Verizon Wins $33 Million in Suit Over Domain Names Verizon Communications, the telecommunications company, has been awarded $33.2 million in a lawsuit against an Internet services company that it claimed had registered hundreds of domain names with Verizon trademarks. Verizon sought as much as $66.3 million in damages over names that included myverizonwireless.com, iphoneverizonplans.com and verizon-cellular.com. Full Story in the NY Times (may require registration...there isn't much more to the story anyway.) It seems most of the domains were Verizon Wireless related. You really have to be pretty dumb to register a domain using a large company's trademark. :loony:
At one point I owned vzwptt.com ... luckily at the time their Push To Talk service didn't take off, ironically they were being sued by nextel at the time for using the term PTT. I let that domain go, I had only put up an affiliate store that didn't do that well anyway... after I let it expire I someone else tried the same domain for about a year.
