I would appreciate any information from users as to whether or not the service is better with Verizon or Sprint. My current provider is Sprint and my contract is due to expire soon. I've not been dissatisfied with Sprint, but I find it pricey. Any opinions appreciated

If you find Sprint too expensive, Verizon won't be any better. When I was in Milwaukee and I had Verizon I roamed on US Cellular quite a bit. I think it is generally accepted that US Cellular is the best in the southern half of the state. US Cellular has terrible national plans though, if it is something you need.

Generally, if you are happy with your current carrier, I would recommend you first try and see if you can't get something from them that costs a little less money rather than switching and then regretting the decision.

If you are looking for a regional or local plan, try USCC. They are far and away the best quality service in Wisconsin. Coverage is pretty thorough, they don't just cover the highways like Sprint and some of the others. In fact Verizon uses USCC for most of their Wisconsin coverage in the south half of the state.

Verizon Wireless roams "Extended Network" on USCC in Milwaukee, so you won't pay extra. On most USCC systems, IN-Network Minutes apply (even though VZW tells you they won't), but I can't confirm Milwaukee.

If the only problem is Sprint is expensive, the day your contract expires, call *2, and tell Claire you want to cancel service. You'll get an agent who's willling to deal and give you nearly anything you ask for.

I haven't heard it, but not being a Sprint PCS user, I could be wrong. Still worth a try though...
