Verizon tiered data plans coming July 7, starting at $30? -- Engadget As Verizon has not officially announced this, it is just a rumor. It looks like customers who have unlimited data (presently) will be able to keep it (for the time being). It's not clear what will happen when one upgrades. It will be interesting to see if this is true and if the reported rates are accurate.

Same as AT&T. When you upgrade you may or may not be forced to switch to the new plan, depends what phone you're getting. I am expecting the pricing to be quite similar to AT&T with similar caps.

Wow.... basically a copy of AT&T plans, just more expensive. I guess I'm staying with AT&T after all.
I am just glad that I am grandfathered in with unlimited data. So when I do decide to upgrade to an LTE phone I am all set with unlimited 4G. Plus since I am already on a special plan to begin with, I have unlimited data for $9.99/month per line. Sent from my VZW 3G iPad 2 using Tapatalk
I am sad that my 20% data discount is going to vanish, per one of those screenshots. The discount will only apply to data plan $50+. Not sure whether I can add tendering to my unlimited data and get the discount. But no way on earth will I go to a tiered plan for $40 bucks.
I just changed from my Droid to an EnV2 so as to avoid paying for the data package while I'm poor (it's my final year as a non-traditional college student.) When I changed I was shocked to hear them tell me the unlimited package was going away and I'd only get 2GB for the $30 I paid before if I decided to switch back, if I waited more than 14 days to do so. I guess I'm not surprised Verizon did this, after AT&T did it and got away with it. Too bad I can't use all my old Motos until they break...I'd be set for life. I don't know if we'll be able to buy a phone in the future without a data package on it. Strange as it sounds, old MOTOhooligan is thinking about going neo-luddite and getting back on one of these bad boys.
For now, my discount on the unlimited plan is still there; however, the discounts are only available on $50+ data and the grandfathered data plan
