verizon stinks

Try Cingular Wireless or ATT Wireless you use both networks

just depends on what plans you like

for the text messangers use ATT w/ free incoming texts

and for Cingular is good for the talker w/ rollover

they have GSM

 

I never had a problem with Verizon in northern and central Florida. What parts of Pasco and Hernando counties were you in?

 

Ok, first of all take a deep breath and RELAX. If you have Americas Choice you won't be charged roaming. While you were down there when your phone was in "stand by" mode it should have said "Extended Network" and while you were actually on a call the all timer would display "Roaming." This is perfectly normal for LG phones, whenever you are off of your home SID your phone thinks your roaming (because technically you are). But if your on Americas Choice VZW doesn't charge you roaming as long as the phone displays either "Verizon Wireless" or "Extended Network" before you make the call.

 

I always thought Alltel had agreements with Verizon, so that it was part of the extened network.

Did you do the *228 ritual, recently?

 

Alltel should be free roam on the Americas Choice plans so you should be ok on that one. If you were on AT&T I think alot there network in Florida is Free Roam.
Hope you don't have to pay for roaming.

You were on I-95, I suppose? I-95 travels through native VZW territory until you hit the NC state line, where you'll enter Alltel's Extended Network coverage.

You will not be charged roaming on the America's Choice plan unless you have a solid (not flashing) roaming indicator and/or the phone's banner says "Roaming" (not "Roam" - that's normal for any call made outside your home SID).

 

I found Alltel on I-95 in NC to be pretty pathetic, did you have any problems?

 

I live In Charlotte NC I have the LG VX6000 Camera Phone it works Awesome. I am on the Americas choice plan.

I have been in that area with both my VX4400 and VX6000, and they both worked perfectly, despite sometimes getting the flashing extended network indicator..

 

Where VZW has native coverage in NC, they are by far the coverage king. (I'm moving to North Meck in a few weeks.)

 

As a rule of thumb in NC, Alltel's coverage isn't anything to highly promote, but it manages to get the job done...usually. VZW's coverage is spectacular, and any North Carolinian will back me up on that.

I-95 runs through just a bit of native coverage in NC, and that's in the Fayetteville area.
