Now before you get to far into this thread I want to make it clear that some of these features will not work in all areas.

    ~To forward you phone
Dial *72 then the number a prompt will tell you your feature has been activated
To turn forwarding off dial only *720 then a promt will say your feature has been deactivated

    ~To temporarily turn off Voice-Mail
Dial *770 to turn it off you will hear prompt
To turn it back on dial *77 you will hear a prompt
(This will by no means screw up your voice mail)

    ~Other Info
    #BAL (#225): Check Your Balance
    #MIN (#646): Minutes Used
    #PMT (#768): Make a Payment
#DATA (#3282): Check Number of TXT Messages and kilobyte usage
    *611: Customer Service (800) 922-0204

    Thanks, Ryan.
There's a lot more shortcuts that are local to specific areas, like Traffic/Weather, news. etc., etc. but this is a great start. Now if someone knows other Verizon feature codes, even if they're local to an area, please go ahead an post them.
A long time ago, Star 102.7 used to have a #JAM line to report traffic problems free from your Verizon phone.

Yes if you know a different code for another area than I have posted feel free to let it be known here for others.

*77 in some states dials the State Police.

Call forwarding for the New England Market is *72(ten digit number) to activate and *73 to cancle.

Same out here in the mid-west, *72+number to forward, *73 to cancel. I have the forward to my car phone number set to speed dial 4 and cancel set to 5. One button to forward, one button to cancel.

In the Boston area on Verizon, *1 will connect you to SmartTraveler traffic reports. I do not know if it is a free call.

(FWIW, *1 on Cingular in Boston, also connects to SmartTraveler, but their intro recording indicates it's a free call.)
