Verizon Security Issues????

I called my friend who is on Verizon. Those of you familiar with Verizon know that if the person is on the phone, when it rings there will be a beep at the end. So I knew he was on the phone. It then picked up, and I heard him talking and I said hi, but he didn't hear me. I then realized he was still on the phone with the other person, yet I could only hear his end of the conversation and neither heard me. He then hung up with this person, and I somehow got connected to someone else's Cell and they did not hear me either. Yet I heard only their end of the convo.

I find this very weird and have never heard of this happening before.

As and FYI I was calling from my Nextel phone.

 

When I told my friend what he said, he got freaked out. lol...I wish I could do that on command sometimes.
