Normally I would be drooling for this phone....I've always been a Samsung fan...

However...No analog support...And you know this phone is going to be a battery vampire with two color LCDs...They're pretty much admitting that by giving you the extended battery...

Frankly...I'm concerned about Verizon's newer handsets being only digital...We're just not there yet with the networks...Give it another 5 years...at least 2 or 3...One of the reasons I left sprint was for Verizon's great analog coverage as well as digital...I hope they don't screw up by phasing out analog supported phones...

In my area there are two A530's the only difference is one has an * next to it. Whatever. Malial, I agree with you, while I have only used analog once, it still should be there. Sprint is getting more tri-band phones, while Verizon is doing the opposite.

I very rarely use analog either...My in-laws live in a fringe area, so it's nice to have the option there.

It's nice just knowing it's there as a back-up. The times that I have used analog has been because I've really needed to make a call and there was no digital...what would have happened had I not had the option to use analog? S.O.L.

Well, it looks like a couple of user likes the Samsung a530...here's a recent post right out of the Samsung forum:

...also VZW is working hard on upgrading their Analog networks to Digital.

"Well, The phone has great reception, high clarity and the earpiece volume is just perfect. The ringers are not as loud as the LGVX4400 but they are fine and you will not mind. The phonebook is the nicest i have ever used and i have had 20 phones in the last 3 years. The gold color is very classy...i do not know how anyone could complain about the color. The color looks like a smoke silver Mercedes S-Class. The color screen is so sharp and it does not really affect the battery life. I used the phone for three days and made several long calls. I also love how strong the phone feels in my hands compared to the cheaply made LG-VX 4400. I know that both phones are Korean brand but it is like comparing a Mercedes to a Kia. Also, I can use this phone in areas where my LG would not get digital coverage and I had to use that dated shi**y analog. Finally Verizon has a good cell phone... "

"I had the extended battery for my LG as well and I would say they [lg 4400 & a530] are rather comparable. I have not been able to tell the difference. I usually charge up every two days and use my phone a lot and i have not had a problem."

    Another user:
"I have made about 150 calls and talked 350m on this phone and it has worked flawlessly.. I traveled to some rual areas today, and to my suprise it held a decent digital signal where my LG would have been in analog... I'm not saying that there couldn't be a problem, but I knew the 720 was a disaster on the first day..I hate to speculate, I bet it's training or collateral related.. I will try to find out today though..."
