I've been a Verizon customer for almost 2 years (will be 2 in september). With all the talk of new plans coming out that may or may not be better than the 400/1000/unlimited for $45 plans now, should I just re-up my contract? The other thing is, I want a new phone, desperately. I still have my original startac, and while it's been a great phone, I want something a little smaller. I want a nice color phone, but if i re-up, will they give me one? I figure i've been a customer for almost 2 years, they should give me a vx4400 or samsung phone for free. Is that a realistic expectation? Thanks.
talk to customer service about it....if you have the new every 2 plan you have a chance of getting the lg vx4400 for free...but if you don't you can still get it at promotional price after 20 months(in a 2 year contracts ) or after 10 months(in a one year contract)...the promo price for the lg vx 4400 is about 99 after a 100 dollar rebate..
If I have a 2 year contract with Verizon that started July 15, 2002, would I be able to get a new phone at promotional price?
I read recently that if you are willing to sign a new two-year agreement, they will let you purchase a phone at the promo prices as long as you're in your 10th month of service. Sulman
Just to add to this. I'm now on my second, 1 year contract. I'd like to keep up the 1 year contacts just because I don't like the idea of being roped in for 2 years. Can I still get a deal on the phone with a 1 year contract?
If I sign up for the new-every-two plan then can i get the $100 discount? It'll really piss me off if I have to pay for a phone having been a customer for 2 years. I use my phone split between Albany, NY and Worcester, MA, so are there any other good carriers for there besides verizon? I know sprint and cingular work well in the cities, but how are they outside in the suburbs?
Every company subsidises phones through your service contrat, otherwise the phones would cost upwards of $400 when they come out. Verizon wireless insists on being profitable (there pretty much the only wireless company thats realy been in the black) and as such makes you pay for most of the phone. They typically don't realy discount a phone till they need to get rid of it.
In the black ? Hell yeah,.....and they stay that way by laying off techs and whatnot, even though they are making $$$$$$$ They are GREEDY bastards.
thats right i hate having to explain this to alot of my customers. People dont realize that the phone dosent really cost that. Lets take a soon to be phased out 3390. its free with contract but out of contract ts 110.00 bucks. and we only paid a little less for it. so the customer still wants to know. well why can i just switch to a new one its free !
But it's stupid. These providers tease like hell to get a customer, whine about churn (which is why most of them are attemptong to block number portability) but after you're with them for 2 - 5 yrs., they don't do much if anything, to try to keep you.
New every two works this way. You sign up for a two year contract, then after two years you get $100 towards a phone when you reup for another two years. This is above any other discounts that are being offered for the phone with a contract. So far as I know having had 2 one year contracts doesn't cut it, but you may be able to get someone to work with you.
Wow - two years!?! Seriously, just because you've been a customer for a little while does not entitle you to free stuff. There are phones you can get for next to nothing, but if you're looking for a free A530, VX4400 or V60i, you should probably fugedaboudit.
Do you have good service when you need it? Do they provide reliable equipment? That's what they do to keep you. I assume you want free phones too.
