Ok, the PID has nothing to do with my problem. Just tried changing to what Mark said, 8084. My problem is definately centered around the fact that files magically disappear after I copy them over with p2kcommander. It's dumb, but I can overwrite files that already exist, I just can't put new files on.

I have yet to find a solution, looks as if I'm the only person this is happening to as I haven't found a thread about it. =( If I don't get anywhere by the end of this weekend I'm unfortunately going to be forced to go back to Vzw Monster and restore all my settings, and just live without OBEX/OPP, as that is truely the only feature I wanted to incorporate into my phone with this Alltel Monster.

I already made the SEEM edit to my V3m and i have many things working now on my phone, i can transfer music from my PC and i´m able to use it as ring tones, but still the D... bluetooth does nothing at all... My question is if i make the Flashing to ALLTELL is there a guide to unflashing it? and is there a way without flashing it, to write the OBEX and the OPP to the Phone?... Please let me know about it. So far you´ve been helpful with this mess caused by D... VW.

    Thank you very much!!!

I made this question because i read before, that VW did not write these protocols to the phone, so i´d like to know if i can add it without flashing it.

Correct. They did not write bluetooth file transfer to the phone. You MUST flash if u want to gain that function.

OK I got Vcast working using PID 8063 and Carrier ID needs to be 200.

My GIN is still timing out tho, but I think I'll get the as well.

It means that you do not have your data services working. Are u using the free wap hack? If so, are u using the google proxy? Chances are your picture messaging and get it now dont work either. Can u check to see if you can send/receive pix messages and if u can access the GIN catalog? Then we can narrow down what you might have missed.

Flashed back to Vzw V3m Monster, made sure GIN and Browser were working, again flashed to Alltel V3m Monster. Combined steps from Monster2 with Monster1 guide (ie: manual seem edits and GIN/Vcast). I once again have MMS working, but GIN and Vcast refuse. Also when I load the browser I get the homepage, but when I select any menus I get told to call *611. When I try to use GIN to get the catalog I now get error 1288 again. I still don't have a Vcast icon.

I'm stumped. I tried using p2kcommander 4.9.8 to copy the files, that version seems way less buggy. But the same thing happens (disappearing files) and no one will confirm this process. It seems like the files are SUPPOSED to dissappear but no one who has everything (MMS/GIN/Vcast/Browser) working will confirm this. I really need GIN in order to get MSN/AIM back on my phone so I'm not giving up unless people are lying about having everything working.

Okay, I decided to make a video of me accessing Get It Now, Vcast, and Mobile Web. In the gin, I showed I was able to download and run apps. Vcast, u can see the icon is there, and you can access vcast. (where I live, there is no vcast coverage, that is why u will see the vcast error, but it works in evdo markets). And I also showed connection to Mobile Web (hack the razr proxy). You can view the video on YouTube here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oqcd-aHA3pY

With the Vcast, you MUST get Gin working first. THEN u go into GIN and download vcast..i didnt know this. Everytime I tried to add the files, they wouldnt stick. Here is where it says that -> http://www.howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=8850812&postcount=615

I have also attached some screen shots in both P2K and BitPim showing the files STILL on the phone after downloading Vcast.

That is actually a satellite icon. It is for the GPS part of the phone. You can change it to a Crosshair icon if you want. A simple seem edit will change it:

Seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0, Offset 4B, Bit 0 - GPS icon indicator - Check for CrossHair, Uncheck for Satelite

ur a goddamn Genius! btw.. is there any way we can create/copy/extract formwares from other phones? Like my friend has the v3i for cingular which has no restrictions just like alltell (OBEX ect..) at least here in puerto rico... it would be cool to have itunes and still make it work for verizon. Basically..can I extract Cingulars Firmware that has iTunes and make it work for Verizon? If its possible I could share it with yall if in US it doest have OBEX transfers.

Nope, that isnt possible. If it were, it would have already been done. we rely on LEAKED firmware's in order to flash. Even if it was, Cingular/Tmobile, are GSM phones. Ours are CDMA. 2 very very different technologies that cannot be crossed. I believe SOME gsm folks have been able to "extract" firmwares, but our CDMA phones havent been hacked that way yet. I wish it were possible, but it isnt. Otherwise I would be running that on my phone...

Hello CincyBall, first off, thanks for writing up all this info. It has been...educational even if it is frustrating. My gf has a v3m that I'm trying to get the bluetooth to link with my Nokia 6288 (Cingular).
I think I have everything that is needed to start this rather daunting process except I can't find the PST 7.2.5!!! :banghead: I've got PST 7.2.3 but I can't find the other file. Is the 7.2.3 good enough or does it have to be the .5 version?
    please help.

The only reason you need PST 7.2.5 is to be able to back up your MMS_Data file. The rest of the backups can be done. If you absolutely cannot find PST 7.2.5, you can still proceed. The only thing that will be different is you will have to manually enter your MMS information (it is covered in the tutorial, so I wouldnt worry too much). If u can get 7.2.5, it will make it a little easier. But thats the background to it.

A bluetooth dongle is what turns your non-bluetooth computer into a bluetooth computer. You dont need it to do any hacks...

Aaah I see, thank you so much. Pretty much you only need the dongle to transfer goodies via bluetooth to the phone. I suppose if you have the USB cable then you wouldn't need the bluetooth then?

Based upon having the Alltel firmware on your phone, you dont need a program such as Motorola Phone Tools, becuase when u pair your NOW bluetooth phone (OBEX and OPP) with your comp, it will access the pictures, ringtones, and videos folder.

However, EVEN with the Alltel firmware, a usb cable will not allow u to access the necessary folders UNLESS u use Motorola Phone Tools.

So u are wondering why u cant just take the Verizon phone and pair it with a bluetooth dongle and transfer? It is because verizon removed the OBEX bluetooth file transfer capability from their phone..so u must flash to alltel. However, u CAN still access the ringtones, pictures, videos folder with Motorola Phone Tools without having to flash.

    Summary:

Verizon - no bluetooth file transfers (not even phone <--> computer - aka OBEX)
Alltel - full bluetooth file transfer (OBEX (see above) and OPP (phone <--> phone) - as long as both phones have OPP)

Plus Alltel uses the Motorola User Interface, which allows for custom skins, faster menu response, better battery life, etc...

    Hi CincyBall,

Ok I thought I had all the stuff that I needed but guess not. I went to the site that you had pointed out in an earlier post at mark.cdmaforums.com
They mention software like "QPST" and "RadioComm". Are these tools also needed? is QPST the same thing as the Motorola PST? Blah I'm confused. LOL

You only need RadioComm if u are doing the automated process known as "monster2". I did the manual "monster1" guide. And QPST is very different from PST. You need both. Follow this guide: http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Monster1.htm

The first step says to backup the phone and to switch it over to another phone. I want to make sure that I'm understanding the process correctly. The only other Verizon phone I have is a Samsung SCH-A670.
Please correct me if I'm wrong...
    1) Do *228 opt 1 (not really sure what to do after you select opt 1) on the v3m
    2) Do *228 opt 2 on the v3m
    3) Go online to verizonwireless.com and activate the Samsung. (do not need to do *228?)
    4) follow the rest of the instructions...
    5) Go online and activate the v3m (do not need to do *228?)

It is suggested to use the "airplane mode" if I don't have another EVDO phone, which I kinda doubt the Samsung has. If that is the case then I pretty much turn on the airplane mode AFTER the flash?

    Thanks for all the advice!

I cannot speak for the guide you are using. I can answer questions about the guide I linked in my post beforethis one. But I havent used radiocomm, or the airplane mode method dictated in the guide you are following.
