Thank god someone knows what I went through XD. I just decided to wait till Oct 08 when my contract exp. to get Razr 2. I've wanted a razr since it came out back in... Like what 03 or 04? I remembered it was only for Cingular I think. Anyways if I could wait 2-3 years to get a Razr, I can wait a year to get a razr 2! That way there should be some SEEM edits for me to make the phone more fun :browani:
After using this phone for a week my wife said it's a keeper! The interesting thing is that phone doesn't have vibrate then ring feature. To activate the vibrate mode you have to toggle the volume button all the way down until the display reads "Vibrate".....weird!
I'm planning on getting the Razr2. I Found out on my account that I can upgrade my phone now. So I need to know any feedback on how the phone really like. I saw other reviews stating customers love the phone but there's the battery life issue!
Yeah I will list the cons i have. Battery life is one and then the Menu still has a tiny lag on it but nothing like befoire.
The battery is not a problem!, reception is very good. Camera is flat out better than my E-815. The only thing I would change would be the stinking UI! Sorry but I don't see any lag time.
So, those of you that now have the new Razr2, a few questions. I saw in an ebay auction that claimed it acts as a USB mass storage device. I called Verizon this morning and they didn't have a clue. I also asked them about what type of ring tones it used (such as user created mp3s) and once again they didn't have any idea. I supose I could go to my local Verizon store and ask them, but I hate to wait 1/2 an hour just to speak to somebody, then have them either not know the answer or give me the wrong answer. Thx
Phonearena.com now has reviews for the Verizon and Sprint versions of this phone. Surprisingly, they considered the phone to be a little more than a slight upgrade to the Maxx V3.
I'm not sure about the "USB mass storage device" part, but as for ringtones, you'll be stuck with whatever you can get through VCast. Verizon is notoriously heavy-handed when it comes to mp3 ringtones. Their version is far more locked down than any other carrier's version is.
Same about the storage device. My wife still loves the phone. To put the phone on vibrate you have to toggle through the side volume control to get to the vobrate mode. If I wasn't waiting for the Pearl and it had a dfferent UI, I would of bought one too.
I'll weigh in on the ringtone thing from my experience with my Samsungs...the only I found to get my custom ringtones on the phone was thru picture messaging. (see post for more info: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/verizon-wireless-users/63049-verizon-no-longer-lets-you-email.html My recently retired 950 *always* dropped the mp3 to qcp. My new 740 didn't do that until the size of the mp3 was well over 200k. So, I actually have them in mp3 format on my new phone. (BTW, had sent them from my Alltel v3c to my Samsung 740)
I'm not surprised by the lengths one has to go to to get personalizes ringtones on Verizon phones. Verizon makes it so difficult. It's good to know there is a workaround on Samsungs.
Hi Beatniksha, the Pearl is a BlackBerry handset that is manufactured by RIM. Here is a link to some pictures of the Pearl, although this is the GSM version, it will show you what it looks like: The Boy Genius Report: BlackBerry Pearl 8100 pics and videos! - Engadget Mobile There is a thread in the Verizon forum if you are interested in it: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/v...ry-pearl-finally-coming-verizon-wireless.html
