Right now Verizon is treating new and old customers alike.....not unless you signed up for New Every 2. That is where every 2 yrs you get 100 credit toward any phone. Some specials on phones right now (at least in TX) are the v60c for only 199.99 and the v120c for 49.99. That is about it really.............America's Choice is out and it is a great rate for the cost. It all really depends the Market you are in.
There is one slight problem. Any time a customer goes from a tri mode phone to another tri mode phone, that customer gets billed $25 for an upgrade fee.
Vanessa, The only thing Verizon is doing for existing customers is provide a discount on a new phone with the renewal of a one (or two!) year contract. These discounts range from $50 to $100. I'm guessing the discount relates to your average monthly bill. -Bill Radio
The other thing that Verizon Wireless does that is different is to let the cusomer change to any qualifying price plan or airtime promotion at any time, even if they are still under agreement. In the past, if you were still under contract you were not eligible to get the bonus. No other carrier allows someone to change like that in the business. Some other carriers charge their customers a fee to change plans or promos ( I have heard the Cingular does that).
perhaps i misunderstand your post but i think from what i understand you are saying only Verizon lets customers change their plans to new promotions while under agreement for no fee. ummm yeah but they then renew your contract for another year from what i understand (and last time i checked so to upgrade my sister/mothers verizon phone plan) i have changed my plan with sprint 4 times while under contract for NOFEE and NO EXTENSION of my contract and could have switched to any of the newer promotions or bonuses for the same conditions of NOFEE and NOEXTENSION of my contract. for example a free 3 months of the RINGERS & MORE service came out awhile after i had signed on for sprint. i asked to have this special bonus promotion added to my plan for 3 months....was done so no problem. i am quite sure that other carriers let you change plans while under contract as well and i am assuming that includes current promotions being offered by that carrier. perhaps the other users from at&t,cingular, nextel, and voicestream can clarify. also sprint also offers the same thing as verizon, $100 off a phone every 2 years with a 2 year contract. i feel that both verizon and sprint should do more in this category for existing customers.
Cingular does not charge you to change your price plan or even renew your contract for changing your plan. You are allowed to change your plan anytime you want to, even Sprint allows you to change your plan also. Most carrier have you sign another contract for changing your plan, but not Cingular.
As part of the Worry Free Guarantee, you can change to any qualifying price plan or airtime promotion at any time. If you choose to change to a standard plan, then no extension of the contract. If you want the promotion with the bonus minutes, then it would extend your current contract. ( If you have 9 months left on contract, then it pushed end of contract to 12 months left) Depends on what you choose. I have to disagree about the fee to change your plan, my friend had Cingular or Ameritech, and she was charged to change the plan. She asked me to look at the bill for her. In regards to the New Every Two program (I have the brochure), You get $100.00 off of the promotional price after two years. Retail will be much more than $100.00. If the promotional price is $100.00 then it is free with the renewal of two years. If you are renewing the contract, then there are no processing fees. Both are great programs and coexist .
Yeah your friend probably was charged for changing her plan, if she change her plan before her bill cylce date ( it probably was just proration charges on her account). At Cingular you can change your plan anytime, anywhere and anyday, without extending your contract.
i never disputed verizon offering those services. but your broad statements mary stating verizon is the ONLY carrier to let existing carriers switch to promotion plans was a total post of misinformation. and you also forgot to tell all the good folks that with any plan change verizon will RENEW your contract, for no fee as well
SunCom (Triton PCS) also lets you change your rate plan at any time with no fee and no contract extension. I've already changed mine once and I was surprised how easy it was.
also at&t wireless has probally the best plan changing policy. If your billing cycle ends on the first and you call in on the 15th your new rate plan will start from the 1st of THAT month So if you know that you are going over your minutes then you can switch up Jack
One other thing about Verizon, you can move up and down in a tier of rate plans and not extend your contract. What extends it is when a customer goes from a regional to the America's Choice Plan. Contract extention is ONLY valid when a customer gets a new promotion, ie night and weekend minutes.
I am aware of proration with cellular companies. Maybe policies have changed with Cingular. IdiOTeQnoLogY, Verizon Wireless will ley you renew, but only with some value to you as a customer and it doesn't have to be two years. Good point ICE! I almost forgot to mention it!
