I'm going to be getting a new phone using my new every 2 $100 from Verizon. As I haven't really been keeping up with the phones out lately, I was wondering what you guys would suggest to me in getting a phone. All I really am looking for is a flip, solid battery talk time, solid reception and something that looks nice. It doesn't have to have a camera on it but it's fine if it does. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in New York although I'm not sure if that makes a difference to the phones they have available.

It also depends on what kind of phones you like after you play with them. With what you said, I'd suggest the LG VX 6100 and the Moto v265. Both are tri-mode phones with cameras. I haven't used either, both are said to be very good phones with the Moto having a slight edge, RF wise.
    Hope this helps,
    Andy

thanks for the info. I'm looking into reviews on the v265. Is the v260 the same phone without the camera phone? Which one's newer?

I have the Samsung a670 and like it a lot. The flip is solid. Great sound quality. Great reception. If you need tri-mode, however, this phone is all digital. There is a camera phone, but like you said...that's secondary (it was for me too, but it's a fun extra!)...

I would go with the v260 or 265 if you want the camera

I believe that the v260 is sold at Radioshack only.

I have another question. My current phone is the T720 which has been ok for me but isn't one of the greatest phones. How would you guys say the v265 compares to the 720?

I just renewed my contract in Dec. and used my new every two. I looked at both the V265 and The VX6100. I really like Motorola phones but went with the LG after comparing the two in person and I'm very happy with the phone. I bought a data cable on ebay and downloaded bitpim so now I can transfer ringtones and pictures without having to pay Verizon every time I want to add something. I've also found that mp3's cut down to 30 seconds can be used a ringtones, a plus that I wasn't expecting. Battery life is very good as is call quality.

thanks for all the help, one last question. How well does the v265 hold it's battery life if you're making lots of 5 min or less calls? That was one big problem I had with the T720 as you could go 90 min - 2hrs on one call, but if you had to make 5 5min or shorter calls, the battery would be almost dead. Thanks again!

The latest version of BitPim (0.7.25) will actually help you crop and convert your mp3s as you add them to your phone.

This sounds like your battery was faulty/old/ worn out. A new battery/phone should not do this, don't worry.

Is bitpim hard to use? I'm downloading it right now myself.

Not hard, but just not simple. You should be fine.

Without a doubt, the LG VX4500 is the phone to you. Nuff said.

Yup, that's a great phone. A friend of mine has it and is quite satisfied with it.
Glad we could help you out; we hope to still see you around these forums ;)
