Guys, I finally got my Verizon Fios fiber optic wireless net work installed, and let me start by saying I am impressed. However, one of the issues I am having is that I can't seem to change the settings for my wireless network. I have to use the default settings. Has anyone encountered this? Thanks, Kashka
Yeah I know, but I just figured that someone out there may have experienced the same thing, and had asolution. Thanks anyway.
What router and which settings are you trying to change? I have a Netgear MIMO and I can't change the channel the I use, but can change most of the other settings.
I thought I was pretty good at configuring routers myself until I got this one. It's an Actiontec router and it was provided by the Verizon. It is part of the package. The router works well, and I have no problems yet. However when I try to things like the SSID or the encryption from WEP to WPA, my wirless desktop cannot connect. I am yet to call customer support, because like I said I set up my wireless network with my microsoft router when I had DSL. So I post the thread just to see if anyone experienced this when they switched to or if they switched to fiber on the verizon network. Thanks.
Verizon finally went through with the Actiontec deal? see when i got DSL they were still using Westell products.......so i have a Westell 327W I have no experience with the Actiontec UI so I wont be much help..........but i might be able to present a few troubleshooters 1)Can you change the settings at the router and can you confirm that they were changed? 2)Can you change the settings at each of the nodes (comps. on the network) and confirm that the settings were successfully changed...... If #1 isnt successful: -have you updated the administrator password on the router and are you logged in If #2 isnt successful: -are you making these setting changes on a local account that has full privelages (although this should not affect your ability to change the setting on a completely different device i have encountered some times when the user name has affected remote setting changes) (weird huuuuhhhh) It is also possible that Verizon has locks put in place but I highly doubt it..its not like Verizon to change the firmware on 3rd party hardware (except on their cellphones but we wont get into that)
Probably something with the router - I am not familiar with your model. I have FIOS with a Netgear wireless router and don't have any problems customizing the WEP.
