Anyone have any idea when Verizon is launching EVDO in upstate NY? I keep asking the CS reps but they have no idea.
I honestly think they will pronbably finish NYC first. Rember, NYC is more than just Manhatan and the airports.
Its not as major a market as you think. Albany would get it before Rochester probably. The way to tell were it will be next sometimes involves were is it at the airport but not in the city....yet. But like I siad, only Manhatan has it, not the rest of NYC. When that changes then we will see it in more non super metro places.
i dont know about that Rochester is a bigger city then albany rochester is the 3rd largest city in NY NYC being #1 buffalo #2 and Rochester #3
I just found two things of intrests. 1.) EVDO is SUPOSED to be up and running in Brooklyn and Queens unoficialy. 2.) Rochester has some EVDO going online right now.

The move extends Verizon's lead over Cingular Wireless and Sprint in delivering faster data transfers to laptop and cell phone users. The expansion of the Verizon data network includes Seattle, Saint Louis, Cleveland, Long Island, and Syracuse. Tuesday's announcement comes amid mounting speculation about possible snags in the launch of the same technology by Sprint and the further deployment of a similar service by Cingular. Verizon's rivals both maintain they're on track with their wireless broadband strategies despite some substantial merger distractions.
According to an article bobolito posted, it should be turned on around July 11th in Rochester and Syracuse.
verizon loves to pre-announce services before they even have it setup - when you sign up for it you end up waiting months before they can actually deliver.
I agree. BTW I'm building a 100 foot high dive platform in my back yard want to come try it out? Not sure if the water will be there or not but the platform will be ready! :loony:
