I was looking at the presentation for the MobileTV Service and the VX9400 has blue bars..so hopefully they will change it...Im new to Verizon, but is it possible for them to send out like software updates to change it or will we have to stay with the weird red bars??

Here is where I saw it:

the blue and red layouts are 2 different firmwares and if you want them switched you might have to go to a store cuz i dont think there is an option in the VZW UI to upgrade firmwares OTA

As far as those red/blue bars go. You can't have it changed by going into the stores nor by doing an OTA update. The new UI is being manufactured on the newer LG models. I believe the LG 8300 was the first one to get it along with 4-5 new themes to chose from. Non of the other phones that are manufactured for Verizon have the new blue bars at this time. I haven't heard that they will be getting them either.

The 5300 is an LG model, and the bar option came pre installed in that phone.

The KRZR is a Motorola. The new UI is not currently being manufactured on these models.

i have the 8300 with "silver" bars (silver spin theme)... thank god they added the display themes because i hate the red. Plus the menus are a lot better with the themes since they look completely diferent than the default. you can get red, purple, blue, light blue, green, silver, and olive greenish color! the last two are different themes

I had the LG 8300 and from what I recall about it, two of those themes were just soooo slow that I couldn't even use them. The silver spin theme was one of them. But I did like having the ability to change the color of the bars.

I too have a KRZR and I would love to have the UI changes that are available on the LG 8300 I had thaat phone before I switch to the KRZR and that is the only thing i miss about that phone. The KRZR is a good phone to me, but with the LG8300 UI menu options it would be a better phone. They should offer that UI menu change on all the phones. It would be great to have the option to change the look of the UI for all phones.

That is exactly what I am saying. I think the KRZR is a great phone except, I don't like the Red bars!!

If you flash your phone with alltel's firmware it will remove those red bars for you. I know some people that did that with their RAZR's.

and unlike with Sprint it wont prevent you from using certain services........for example......Sprint PictureMail doesnt work without the Sprint firmware and the photo albums either........so flashing with ALLTEL firmware actually debilitates the phone even more than Sprint already makes it......

i messed up my RAZR by flashing it to Alltel, so that is why I have a KRZR

I wouldn't recommend doing it then. I know if you're not careful you can brick your phone by flashing it. I did it once myself, and I learned the hard way not to try it again.

If you are referring to the bars, they don't stand for anything.

I know my mom has an LG phone (one of the cheapie ones) with the Blue UI. She got that in August when I got my a990.

That would be the LG 5300 if it has a camera on it. If it doesn't have a camera then it's probably the LG 3400.

Jeez. Do what I did, forget about what color your bars are and get a real carrier which uses real UI's. LOL. I'm just fed up with Verizon's UI crap. It ruins phones IMO.

    (My Real Carrier = USCC)

I bet if VZW started selling Iphones, they'd still have that gawd-awful interface.... (Hopefully not).

verizon can't sell the iPhone, they are GSM. I'm glad, too, becuase they would totally destroy that phone. I beleive only AT&T/cingular will have them.

And yes, its the LG with the camera...

You can bet if Verizon were to get an iphone they most certainly would brand it with the red bars and that awful UI of theirs. I couldn't stand it myself either, but I have talked to allot of people that have Verizon for their service provider and they all tell me that the UI and having the red bars on their phone doesn't really bother them.

I know Iphones are only GSM... For now... One cannot speculate as to what might happen tho, as the RAZR did become CDMA, did it not? (Yes, Thats a rhetorical question.)
