Ok. I can't manage to get a consistent answer from Verizon, so I'm really hoping that someone here can assist me, or provide me further information. I picked up the VX8000 yesterday, as I've swapped my V710 out so many times that I can't even count anymore. First off, I'm in a non EVDO market (West Texas - we'll probably not get it for another year, if ever). Anyhow, first they had problems activating the phone (it was the first one they've activated), but they finally got it working. My WAP was not working (I have the Mobile Web + 500 Text Package), so I called tech support. They said they needed to add some national broadband access feature (and it wouldn't cost me, or something). Anyhow, I was reading up on VCAST, and notice that it states it offers UNLIMITED airtime free use of WAP 2.0. My question is this - does this only pertain to use of Mobile Web IN a EVDO market, or will all Mobile Web usage be metered accordingly (i.e.: if I'm in an EVDO market, it'll be free/unlimited, and if I'm in a regular 1X market, it will still come out of airtime)? I've got several different stories from Verizon about this. I'd like to be able to use Mobile Web at an Unlimited usage level (and since VCAST is free for 2 months, it lets me gauge if it'll even be worth it, plus when I do travel to an EVDO area, I can know what to expect, so if and when it ever comes here). Anyhow, to make a long question short - Is the availability of UNLIMITED Mobile Web extended only to those who are in the EVDO (VCAST) service area directly, or will it indeed also be unlimited when you go (or reside) in a regular 1X market? The last email I got from Verizon states that it will indeed if I travel to a non EVDO area, I will still get unlimited use of Mobile Web... Anyone shed any information on this? (Sorry for the long post). Thanks
It'll give you unlimited use of Mobile Web even outside of the EVDO network. Though that information may not be much use to you now.
