    Ok here my first bit:

ok here pretty much how the mp3 thing works to get free ringers from mp3 on you computer. You need 2 things:

    1) Transflash Card - comes with sd transflash adapter
about 40 dollars buy.com or radioshack 70 bucks

    2) SD Card Reader - Radioshack 20 bucks

Put the transflash card the the sd adapter and then put both in the reader

Transfer some mp3 files from the computer by dragging to the card

Take the card out of the sd adapter and put it in the phone

ok now on the phone hit menu - media gallery - sounds - hit menu again - scrow to switch storage device - choose the card - scroll to the song you want - hit menu - then copy

This will now copy the song from the card to the internal memory of the phone and this might take a min or two

now hit menu again - switch storage device - choose phone - scroll to the song you copied - hit menu - apply as ring tone

If you want to change the song delete the one on the internal memory and then copy a new one or copy another one without erasing the original if you have enough room

GET IT NOW THIS VERIZON  Cingular aint the only one with REAL RINGTONES

Have you tried to transfer pics/video on to your comp? Can you do it? How do they look if you can?

    Adam,
Does that procedure convert the MP3's to Midi's? According the a Moto rep, mp3's had to be converted to midi's for ringtones. Is this true?
How do you like the V710 so far, or have you gotten one for yourself?
I'm still waiting for the rep to tell me how to go about getting one since none are available on the RS EPP website.

You have to post the picture on the internet and use the link to the pic. Example: [!mg]http://domain.com/folder/file.jpg[!mg] (I used !'s so it wouldn't try to find the image, but you still use i's lol).

regarding mp3's has anyone tried buying a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter to see if this will accept allow us to play mp3s on normal headphones or say a car stereo tape adapter? I know it will play the mp3s and midis through the headset if you have it plugged in. It'd also be nice if we could set it so it continuously played through the songs once you started playing one. Then again, it would be nice to have a better player with playlists so you can distinguish between ringers and songs.

Is anyone using their 710 as an mp3 player? I will be using it as an intermediate player when I go for runs, but also want my phone handy. Can anyone suggest earphones that are compatible with the 710 and that they like?

    Thanks in advance.

Has anyone figured out how to listen to mp3s with the phoned closed? When I close the phone the mp3s stop playing, regardless of whether I am using the speaker phone or a headset. It'd be pretty awkward walking around with the phone open just to listen to mp3s.

    Thanks!

I don't have the phone but I recall reading a post that there is some way to just minimize the mp3 while it is playing and that keeps it playing. I would look int the menu options for something like that.

That did it. Just hit "hide" and get back to the main screen and you can close the lid and control the mp3 player from the outside. Thanks!

Does the MP3 only work through the speaker on the phone or the mono ear piece.
Most headsets for phones have poor fidelity, and the speaker in the phone is marginal.
Will it play through a stereo headset, and if so how does it connect. The hansdfree jack is too smal for standard headsets, and is likely wired for 1 speaker and 1 microphone.
The only other device I've heard of is the FM radio headset that Motorola has and it plugs into the bottom connector. The info on it only mentions the FM radio, not MP3.

    Anybody know about this?

All you need is one of these adapters from Radio Shack and regular 1/8" headphones will work.

I'm very impressed with the phone so far. Does anyone know if the voice dial number for voice mail can be changed. I have already changed the voice mail speed dial to include pauses and my pin code, which works great. This does not however change the number dialed by the voice dial feature. I can say "name dial" then "voice mail" and it dials speed dial 1 with the codes. Just trying to save the extra step.

    Thanks
