Normally when they're out of stock they'll marked the phone as such, i just checked in my zip and it's not showing either.

It doesn't show up for Colorado or Florida either, but in Florida they still are showing the v60S. Maybe they dropped it for the e815.

It's gone from my zip code 10021. When I went into the VZW store this weekend it wasn't on display either.

The skeptic in me thinks that Verizon has decided to phase out the V710 phone early, as a way to combat the uprise over how they were controlling the Bluetooth & ringtone TransFlash transfer issues.

Upper management probably said to themselves: "So, they are going to complain about how we operate our business? Fine - take away the phone in question".

VZW tells me they can't get any V710s from Motorola. No batteries either. :hmm:

But they just released the E815 with the same limitations. It's probably the fact that the E815 is the replacement for the V710 and stock was depleted on the 710.

Yes, the E815 has the same limitations, but VZW is being much more careful about SPELLING OUT those limitations in their advertising of the phone. On the E815's page, VZW specifically lists what profiles are available for use by the end user - that's something they didn't do for the V710, and THAT's (combined with vague ad copy) what got them into trouble.

Also, it's been well documented that VZW's lockouts can be worked around on the E815, so take that for what it's worth.

  11. Its replaced with the e815 in my area, 37841, as well. Which does everyone like the best? I kind of prefer the e815

I haven't had a chance to play with the E815 yet, but I have to say that at least from a design standpoint, I like the E815's inside (keypad layout in particular), but I think I like the V710's exterior look better, especially the vertical strip of black that masks the location of the external screen. Yes, I know it scratches easily and picks up fingerprints, but I still like it better than the E815's generic outer look.

Here in Wash/Balt the 710 is gone... I miss that damn thing like a toothache. The E815 is a much better phone, better picture quality, better videos, less buggy and all around better layout and os. I really like the keypad as well, much easier to hit the keys and I don't get cramps typing text messages. Some indirects may still have some 710s hanging out... but I'm positive Verizon is going to drop that phone like a bad habit. If you have a 710, sell it on ebay as fast as possible while its still worth something.

I'd imagine that the 815 would have a number of improvements over the 710. For one, I noticed a better designed keypad as Critic stated. It also seemed sturdier than the 710's which peeled after some time.

I noticed that also. The 710 is still listed in my zip.

When comparing them head-to-head on Phonescoop, Comparison, the differences I find are that the 710 has AMPS and the 815 doesn't. I think the 815 is EVDO capable (money maker for VZW) and the 710 isn't.

Other differences I find are minor like the phone book size and weight.

Forgot battery life is much better in the 815.

Not to move from the thread but Doesn't the 815 also not have voice dialing?
Atleast that's what the verizon compare site shows.

According to Phonescoop's comparison they both have voice dialing.

Yes, but the voice commands on the 710 are high school, the 815 voice commands are pro.
