I've been debating between upgrading my T730c to a Treo or to a v710. There are many advantages and disadvantages to both, obviously.

    A couple of questions ...

    (1) Will my T730c accessories (chargers, cigarette adapters, etc.) work with the v710?

    (2) Any real complaints anyone has had with the v710?

    Thanks!

I can tell you your charger will. I'm guessing your current cig adapter should work too. The charger port at the bottom of the phone is the same.

As far as complaints. Hmm, well the camera is NOT the best, but this IS a phone so it certainly shouldn't be a deal breaker. When the battery is low, the indicator beep is so loud it could wake the dead. Other than that, I love this phone. RF is fantastic. Sound is good. Menu graphics are nicer than the T730c. The menu options, though, are still the same. Bluetooth is still crippled as far as I know. But overall, I like the V710 and would recommend it.

As for the Treo 650...I don't own one so I couldn't tell you, but I have read that people are having issues with it. Then again, when does that NOT happen?? Good Luck!!

Thank you for your comments. It always helps to hear from those who use the equipment.

My 710 worked great, right up until it didn't anymore. Apparently there was an issue with ALL SIX REPLACEMENT 710'S that Verizon sent me as well. Now the latest one won't charge. I am waiting for the LG8100 and will run far and away from Motorola CDMA phones.

Bought my V710 last September and it's been flawless since. The upgrade to the latest firmware solved the loud low-battery beep, although decreasing that alarm volume also decreases the alarm clock tone, so be aware of that if you use the alarm clock feature. I use it frequently to remind me to feed the parking meters, so I'm stuck leaving the volume for the alarm clock, and hence the low battery alarm, at a fairly high volume.

The only other issue I've had, and only once in a while, is that an incoming call will get shifted to voicemail after only two rings. VZW tells me that the incoming call may have had too weak of a signal and the call was dropped. Could be true.

I ordered a v710 this weekend using Alltel as my service provider. Hoping it will be a better phone than my LG LX5550. I have seen some great stuff about the phone so hopefully they will be all true.

The biggest reason to get a Treo 650 is if you'd want to combine a PDA and phone in one package. The people I know who own it are generally happy even though it is bigger/heavier than a V710. Being a Palm person myself, that would be the phone I'd get if given a choice. If you don't need all the features then a V710 should suffice.

I finally got a close up look at the Treo this past week. It's not as big as I had thought. I was thinking it would be uncomfortable holding it against your head, but it's not that bad. If you are planning on doing some light emailing with your phone, you'd be better off with the Treo.
