There is a post on another forum that tells of a succesful purchase (Alltel) and activation on Verizon of a v60x. Has time passed this phone by, or is it worth having?
Definitely worth having if you don't want PTT and the v60p, but still want a 1x phone in a v60 form factor.
If Verizon doesnt follow ATT suit and release a version of Color screen V60iCDMA then i def get the V60x...Not wanting PTT at all, thats why i left Nextel
Why is that? they made a monochrome screen for TDMA and GSM and Cdma why no color for Verizon? also same for the T720 series
Making a cell phone isn't just slapping out a few parts and suddenly a TDMA phone is CDMA. There are no BREW requirements. Qualcomm needs to certify the device. It isn't a trivial task. Assuming Moto could devote lots of resources toward this, even then they are dependant on Verizon testing the phone. Not once, not twice, but at least 4 rounds of testing. That needs to be scheduled up. The FCC needs to do testing. In short... it would be 6 months if the phone got fast tracked and everyone rushed it through. 6 months from now the V60 will be a dinosaur. The V300 - 800 series phones have bigger screens, better battery usage, higher resolution, cameras, and on some speaker phones. The V60 would be ignored on store shelfs. It isn't going to happen. Do a search on V60e. It did exist at one time, it got killed off a long time ago.
I don't need the camera and color stuff. What I do need is the data rate and the form factor. I have a vision of a 1X phone hooked up to my Ipaq doing what I need to do safe from the network snooping of my employer. If the phone works out for the guy that bought it, I might be tempted to give it a try.
I know exactly what it tkes and its more than piecing together the guts...............I also know never say never to it coming out unless your have inside info other wise..Logically it wouldnt really be a benefit to release one but ive stopped trying to think logically when it comes to carriers decisions
