There is a number of ways to do ringtones for the V3m. look and read through this thread for 'lots' of help on the subject. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/54510-motorola-razr-cdma-versions-v3c-v3m.html What is mainly discussed is BitPim, which is FREE on the Internet, but you will have to buy/purchase cables. Then there is Motorola Phone Tools (MPT). It comes with cables. There is also a MPT with Bonus CD that suposedly does more than the regluar MPT. Ther si also how-to's on SEEMing to get some of the option to work IF your carrier is Verizon. If you need more help, just ask, but please do it on the above thread.
I've just upgraded to a RAZR V3m and purchased the Music Essentials Kit from Verizon Wireless. When I tried to install the USB Drivers today so I could download music to my phone I am having all sorts of issues and the phone is not being recognized. In fact, it is showing up as a Motorola V3c phone instead of a Motorola V3m phone (I double checked the phone to make sure I got the right one). There are no drivers available at Verizon Wireless or Motorola. So I'm not sure where I can get a V3m driver in order to make this thing work. Any thoughts?
I am not going to tell you what to do, but if it was me I would take it back and get the Motorola Phone Tool (MPT) software. OR just get a cable as Windows Media Player can copy music over to your V3m, if that is all you want to do. MPT can do a lot more than just copying music. You can also edit the music. You can do same to any of the MultiMedia items for the phone. You can also work with the phonebook and calendar, text messages and lots more. Most prefer MPT, including me. You can buy it pretty cheap off of the internet on places like ebay. You can also get a FREE software item called BitPim from the internet. It will allow you to copy music, ringtones and everything else you could want over to the phone. Thanks. After doing some more searching at this site I found the walkthrough on how to install. After several attempts, rebooting, and actually finding additional tips at another forum I was able to get the phone installed on the PC and recognized as a portable device instead of a Motorola modem only. Unfortunately now the issue is the PC tries to synch with Media Player 10 but hangs (Media Player tries to find the device but still can't for whatever reason). When I try and sync it still indicates connect failure on the phone itself. So I will continue to try. I don't think I will need all the features that MPT would offer, I just want to be able to download music to my phone and play it. Pretty simple. Plus I'm not sure if Verizon Wireless disabled anything that would not allow MPT to be used on the phone. I don't want to have to hack it to get things to work. I can't complain, I got the V3m for free and only paid $29.99 for the MEK which I feel covers the cost of the cable and headset (although a little pricey). I just need to get the Media Player and the Phone to "talk" to each other.
Sorry, forgot this. There is a fix for people having problems syncing the Windows Media Player ver 10 to their phones. Try this. (Right-click, save-target-as). http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...orola-razr-cdma-versions-v3c-v3m-sync-fix.zip
