Hey, Well...I kind of want to be able to do more things with my phone.....So far I've been able to put vid clips and pics onto it/off of it (onto comp) w/ my memory card (just taking it out and putting it into comp)..I've also put music onto it... But, I really want to put ringtones onto it..and do other things. I don't want to SEEM edit it or do anything crazy like that....I'm sure I could do it, it's not that im incapable, it is just that I dont want to void my warranty, or brick my phone. SO ya, I have been looking around and heard a lot about this MPT software and what not...I found this package: http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=17620036 and am thinking about getting it... But, I want to know if I will be able to do any of this/if this will be helpful for what I want when I have Verizon as my provider, and a RAZR V3m as my phone. Any advice/input? Thanks, Jeff
That is a great program. The problem is, Verizon has crippled the OBEX function on the phone, which means if you want to transfer files thru MPT, you will HAVE to do at least one seem edit, which re-enables Bluetooth/USB file transfer. And if you are doing one seem edit, you may as well do the rest you want, in order to make the phone how you really want it. Honestly, I was very worried about doing seem edits, but it seriously is a piece of cake. Check out this site, it is what I followed and it was so simple. http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=SEEM&PHPSESSID=01c079c7486075d93fd0d42da9a8fac3 There is plenty of people here to help if u have a question before u start the process. If you decide to do it, you will be very happy wioth your decision.
Alright, but what if I have to bring phone in for service for something (not as a result from the SEEM) to Verizon...under my warranty.....would they not take it because of this/would they see this or what?
If you decide to do seem edits, you can save a copy of the original BEFORE u make any changes. If something goes wrong with your seem, or in 2 months u need to revert back to the original settings, all u would have to do is load up the original files and no one would be the wiser. Happened to me. My battery sucked, I reverted all my seem edits back, brought in the phone, and they checked it out and gave me a new battery. Not sure how in depth they looked at the phone, but there are other peoplke who have done similar things and had no troubles. As long as u follow directions, u wont brick your phone, and u wilol always b e able to get the original settings back. If you foprget to save the original, most people on here will have a copy as well. So you should be covered.
Cincyball, you have REALLY helped! Thank you soo much! I am a Junior in Highschool and therefor only have minor time on weekends for anything...yep...junior year sucks lol...So I will probably get to this next weekend. Since you seem to be quite knowledgable in this matter, I was wondering if you have AIM (aol instant messenger) or MSN messenger....if so, could you pm me the screen name so you could possible talk my throught the process while I do it next week? Also, so I can save all my settings, everything...and even if I do brick my phone, I can hook it back up to the pc and it will still detect it/work hooked up? And then I can just download the saved settings and it will be all better? If so...this rocks lol! Finally..another way to bi-pass Verizon's monopoly on my phone (already got my own vids on it/got pics/vids off of it with my own means and not their paying ones). So ya...thank you soo much for your help so far! -Jeff
As Cincyball said, MPT is great software and it does come with a cable. I would try MPT without SEEM'ing the phone, though. Some of us did not have to SEEM the phone to get MPT to work, especially on the newer version of the software.
But I have Verizon, and Cincy is the second source of whom has said that Verizon has blocks which do not allow you to transfer stuff to/from phone as a usb device...thus MTP does not work fully for it.... I mean, I guess I can try to do it before seeming.....but I'm going to see if I can just find some download of MTP somewhere online first. EDIT: Just if anyone wants to save $30.00 on getting MTP, pm me.
Cincyball is correct in that a lot of people did have to SEEM their phones, but there is also some who did not have to SEEM the phone to get MPT to work. I think where the confusion lies is, if you use Windows Media Player 10 to transfer songs to your phone, or use BitPim, then yes, you will have to SEEM it so that transfers will work.
Do not know why none of us did not think of this before, duh!!! :loony: So many people have asked 'where does the transFlash SD card go?' Well, trying to explain it is a royal pain in the rear. So keeping in mind the old adage 'A picture is worth a thousand words.' Here is a picture of where the transFlash SD card goes. Click on thumbnail to get a larger view. Please note the RED arrow. It points to where the SD card goes. Note too that the battery is still in the phone. You will have to remove the battery to put the SD card in. If you look directly across from the point of the RED arrow, you will see a little notch in the card. The card must be turned so that the notch is where it is in the picture. The card will make a faint click ro snap noise when it is seated correctly.
Oh, sorry. When all this started and even in the last week or two, people have said that they bought a SD card and did not know where it went. We have been trying to explain as best we can, but the 'explaining' went on for pages, depending on HOW elaborate you had to be and apparently noone thought to actually 'show' where it goes. So I did. Now when people ask, all we have to do is point them to the thread.
lol, ok. Ya, if you have an sd card, go get a card reader for it plus the sd adapter if it didnt come with it...helpful stuff to transfer pics w/out seeming (and videos)
I didn't want to seem edit the phone at first, but glad I did. It is not hard to do, it is more of a pain in the @ss to read through all the information in various posts to make an educated decision as to whether you want seem edit or not. Like I said, I did it and it was the best thing I ever did with this phone.
Sorry about that, the way the thread turned out by having to read through all this ummm stuff :browani: When this ALL started there was only about 3/4 of us working on it. It was decided, along with the big wigs and us, that it would be easier to make up instructions and when asked, just give out the Detailed Step-by-Step instructions and then help people when they had a problem with one of the steps or something not covered in the steps. Well, it worked great for a little while, BUT then we started getting SOME people in who NEW everything, they were NEVER wrong and instead of following what was established they just decided to do things their way and kind of trashed the thread up. It blossomed, from 5-10 pages to what it almost 50 pages AND these/this same people/persons still insist on answering ONE problem at a time instead of pointing people to the made up instructions OR sending them to another board instead of giving this board it's due. Anyway to make a long story short, I am the only one left of the group. The others gave up and one even did his own site. That way he has control over it and won't let people trash it. I do suggest some go the site for help. I am not getting the moderator's of this board a bad rep, they are some of the most wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure to work with and joke with and just plan learn from. This particular thread went from a few questions to an overnite/blownup, everyone in the country wanting in on it with questions and advice. That is really cool, just plain awesome. I wish we could get another thread on this forum going like that, again. Even though this thread is still FAR from stopping, it would be cool to get another HOT thread going. Thanks for taking the time to read the thread.
So when someone posts a question, you want us to point them to the "super-thread", and tell them to find the answer themselves? Thats not going to happen. The leas ttime I checked, this forum is made to help people by answering their problems. Albeit, some people dont search at all, but regardless, if I know the answer, I will help them. I think I speak for most people, quit crying about me correcting you a few days ago, damn. :loony:
Here we go again folks. What are you talking about "quit crying about me correcting you a few days ago". What the HELL makes you think this is directed to you? and DAMN yourself.
Thats funny, b/c I have about 8 PM's from you that says otherwise. And furthermore, why are you so angry if it ISNT about me? Poor, poor richard. Im starting to feel bad for you.
Alright, well...I did the seem stuff....and did 3 seem edits. I did the following ones: Bluetooth/USB File Transfer offset 006a bit 0 check to enable Vibrate/Then Ring option Part 1/2 offset 007b bit 3 Uncheck to Enable Vibrate/Then Ring option Part 2/2 offset 007b bit 4 Check to Enable The vib/ring works fine....but the usb file transfer doesnt seem to be working...i had hoped that now when i would start up motorola phone tools, and plugged in my phone, it would have the multimedia studio, and the full range of functions, but that is still not showing up... What to do?
If Mototola Phone Tools or MPT, does it show the MultiMedia option, try this: On the phone displayed by MPT: 1.) Menu->Setup->General Setup->Communication the "Device Configuration Wizard" will launch OR "change modem" option will display. 2.) You will then be prompted to select device a device. Choose "Motorola USB Modem" the click "next" 3.) The Detect Driver screen will appear 4.) Check the "Do not automatically detect the driver. Select from list" box, then click "next". 5.) On the next screen, Choose Motorola CDMA on the left and on the right, choose v3cm for Device model OR if you updated MPT to version 4.21, choose V3mm the click "next", the click "finish" 6.) You should now see multimedia studio as an option. If you still have a problem, holler back, Cincyball or I can help you further along.
Praise you lol! Multimedia studio is showing up!!! Thankkk youu! Now I can fool around some more :-D Also, can you refer me to a list of good SEEM edits...i've seen many lists and have a list of them all, but i mean....i dont know what half of them mean lol
Do not know if you got this, but this is the one that I use and try to keep updated for this thread. So if you come across some other SEEMs, let us know so we came keep it up to date. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...-razr-cdma-versions-v3c-v3m-seems-for-v3m.xls Also here is a SNAPSHOT list of all the SEEMS we could find. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...-v3m-seem-snapshots-for-motorola-razr-v3m.doc
I wna change that background when the phone is closed..the LCD..you know the orange one.... AT motov3m.com there are some seems listed, particulary i was looking at this one: Seem Description Offset Bit Instructions Verified for V3m Outside LCD (Orange or Graphic) 0094 7 Uncheck for Graphic Yes Now...anyone have any experience with this? And I mean...what does it do? How do i specify what graphic I want?
Ok, right now, before any seem edits, your background picture on ur phone only shows up when u have it flipped open. And when it is closed, the ugly orange background is on the lcd. The ONLY way to change the orange background is to do the seem edit u mentioned above. What that does though is it just transfers whatever pic u have as ur back, to ur lcd cover while it is closed. U might think that sounds good, but it jams the entire pic into the small lcd screen, thus causing it to be all distorted. There is no way to have two separate pictures. I tried it, it works fine, but the picture is all distorted, and it still puts the time over it. It makes it really hard to see the pic, so i have decided to just leave mine as the orange backgrounf Now, u can chnage the picture on the lcd screen while the flipper is open. By default, it is a Verizon logo. You can change that so when u have the phone open, u see ur own custom image. That is also on www.motov3m.com
Ok, ya..I've alredy done the outside lcd when it is flipped open, i have a cool picutre. Was just wondering about that...maybe I'll give it a try later.
