This is probably a dumb question, but since I don't know for sure, I'm going to ask. Is it possible to connect two phones directly to each other via bluetooth to transfer ringtones, photos, etc?

Yes. I have transferred a ringtone I composed using MPT from my V505 to a friend's V600 via Bluetooth.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to figure it out and got all my ringtones/photos transfered. I just got the RAZR and don't have the data cable for it. Thank God for Bluetooth.

I tried doing this from my 710 to a v551 and it would not work. When I tried to go the other direction the v551 seemed to want to do it but the 710 would not pick it up. I am thinking that this is something that the 710 does not do. :(

That's because VZW cripples their Bluetooth including that in the 710. VZW wants you to use their GIN services for all the pics and ringtones. Lots of people have complained, but I think it obviously all fell on deaf ears at VZW.

I would suggest you not buy any branded cable. Since the RAZR is a USB connection, any computer cable that you use to connect a digital camera will work fine - that's what I do (when I'm not using the Bluetooth ;) ). Nothing beats free.

the only problem sometimes with using bluetooth phones from non gsm carriers is that they have a tendency to only work with other bluetooth devices that the carrier offers. Most Sprint bluetooth devices only work with other Sprint bluetooth. I never tried a Verizon cdma to a gsm though.

Since I just got my new V3 I am going to be losing alot of information from my old phone if I can't transfer all my files. The replies said that you could transfer the data. I am needing help in actually doing so. If you would send me the information on how you did the transfer I would appreciate it.
