I had a V3m and it worked fine with MPT. I got a VE20 and activated it but when I try to hook it up to my pc through a usb cable I get to the initializing the phone and it says phone not supported try updating MPT.

I update and it says I have the latest version.

Service is through US cellular and I have added a micro SD card.

Anyone know why this is happening?

If there is another software package out there I would use that.

I want to add some mp3 ringtones and backup my contact list.

    Thanks for any assistance.

Joe, unfortunately Motorola phone tools seems to be more of a problem than it's worth these days. Since mostly older models use it, they aren't updating it like they should.

If the VE20 has Bluetooth, I'd recommend getting a Bluetooth micro-adapter for your PC. Rocketfish makes one available at Best Buy. It allows you to do most of what you're trying to do with MPT through Bluetooth. Not sure how it will work with MP3's, but for pictures and other OBEX (object exchange) items, it works great.

This is another option worth trying if you can't get MPT to work properly.

    Thanks for the reply.

Do you know of another Program for the PC other than MPT to do what I need?

I will give the bluetooth a try.

    Thanks again.

Unfortunately no. It seems with the plethora of smartphones, regular phones connecting to a computer seems to be a dying breed. Which is unfortunate for someone, like yourself, in need of this capability.
