Ive been trying to find an answer to this, searched google and these forums n couldnt come up with ne thing useful. So hopefully you guys can point in the right direction. I bought an HTC Mogul that is Sprint branded. I want to know how/if I can flash this phone or something so I can use it on a prepaid network. Also, if anyone has recommendations on a prepaid carrier thatd be great too. I bought the phone for its wifi and pda capabilities and for business calls so I dont really want to pay for a plan.
I hear that MetroPCS has the facilities to flash CDMA phones onto its network. MetroPCS is a prepaid carrier that offers unlimited minute plans. They may work if they can flash the device and have service in your area. Maybe Cricket, as well?
You can find the instructions on flashing that phone at xdadevelopers or ppcgeeks or ppckitchen. You will want to disable the data connections from connecting automatically (using ppckitchen there is a built in option for this.) It can be flashed to multiple carriers, just pick one that will activate it for you. I don't know of any prepaid carriers that offer data on PDA's, so make sure you have disabled that connection or you will burn through your airtime. My suggestion would be to activate with Alltel... but do it before Tuesday of this week.
