I am currently on the AT&T Go Phone Plan and I was wondering could I purchase a Blackberry from Ebay and be able to use it on my gophone plan without having to purhase a 2 year plan.

    1. would the blackberry need to be unlocked
    2. which blackberry would be best if it would work.:)

It would have to be either an AT&T BlackBerry or an unlocked GSM BlackBerry in order for you to use your SIM on AT&T's network. AT&T's Go Phone service does not allow BlackBerry data, so it may not be worth it.

You can have a BlackBerry with T-Mobile's prepay service. In addition T-Mobile now offers some very good no contract plans as well. If you really want a BlackBerry without a contract T-Mobile would be a better option. If you do not want to purchase a device from T-Mobile check eBay for a good used T-Mobile Blackberry or an unlocked GSM BlackBerry.

One of the at&t branded models will be the easiest to get set up and working with at&t's service, although as already stated any of the other Blackberry models with the appropriate frequencies (850/1900 mhz GSM/3G) will work on at&t's service if it is unlocked.

And just so there isn't any misunderstanding - you can use the MediaNet data plans available for prepaid service with a Blackberry. You won't have access to the specialized Blackberry services, such as Blackberry e-mail, etc., but using it with the limited allotment prepaid MediaNet data plans is allowed.

If you are primarily interested in a Blackberry for the QWERTY keyboard quite a few users use them with prepaid service and don't miss the specialized Blackberry data services at all. ;) And if your coverage is adequate with at&t's prepaid service it is one way to avoid the mandatory data plan requirement for smartphones (only applicable to post paid service).
