Yo! Fellow regulars here. Its official. You can now upload your own icons.

    1. Develop your own icon (must be same size as standard icons)
    2. Save as JPG.
    3. In WA's Profile page, Browse your computer to find the icon
    4. Click Update Profile.

    Tips on icon development
I downloaded (Print Screen) all the icons and then, using MS-Paint and other software, digitally altered the current images. (If you are using WinME, Win2K or WinXP, all of those come with a version of MS-Paint that allows you to save files as BMP, JPG, GIF and other formats.)

    Kevin-

I must be blind, but when I go to my pofile, the only options I have for icons are the ones that are already made.

I don't see an option to browse my hard drive and upload an icon...

    Any thoughts?

    thanks.

There are only two reasons I can think of:

    1. Ensure you are logged on when you view the profile page. Try logging out and back in again.

    2. Maybe you are viewing a cached paged. Try refreshing (reloading) your screen.

If you still don't see it, contact WirelessAdvisor. (I also experienced the same thing when they first told me about it, but they fixed it immediately.)

    Just a follow up:

Thanks to the WebMaster at WA for helping with this problem.

They're still working on the final solution, but thanks to their personal and prompt attention to my inquiries, I was able to get my icon uploaded.

The Custom Author Icon upload is also disabled if you are using a MacIntosh. I also run a site using FuseTalk (this forum software), and I removed that restriction. The few MAC users who tried it were able to use it sucessfully. I'm sure there's a reason it's turned off for MAC users by default, but it seemed to work for them in my tests.

That very well may be the problem then, since I am on a Mac.

Any other Mac users noticing the same problem?

I think the admin is going to enable that option here for MAC users, so you can try it and see if it will work.

I have a friend that would like to load her own background on her new Ericsson T60D.

The manual for this phone, simply put....sucks, and doesn't include instructions on how to do this.

Can you guys/ladies shed any light on this topic for me?

    thanks,
    Ron

    Hi Ron,

This thread was only discussing uploading icons to this discussion forum. You'd be better off reposting your question under the Phones and Accessories forum.
