I don't upgrade phones very often, because I have 3 teenagers and have to buy them all the same phone or I'm in trouble. I have nextel from work and don't want to change that, so I need to stay with them. So in an effort to save money I was thinking of buying unlocked phones on ebay (maybe i850 or i855). Can I just take the exisitng sim cards from thier i730 and plug them in? Or do I need to buy new sim cards? Then how do I get them programmed? I tried searching for a while but can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Thanks for any help.
You can use the same SIM cards. I upgraded from an i530 to an i830 last Fall and just popped in my i530 SIM card and it detected my account, contacts, etc. The i850 should be a very solid phone for you. I wouldn't reccomend the i830, though. I had poor reception issues with it.
The Motorola i850 is a very good phone, if you have teenagers they may prefer the i870 as it has a few more "media" options (mp3 player, higher resolution camera, etc). I personally have a i850 but like it very much, I upgraded from an i730, but purchased it through my local rep so I got a new SIM card and everything like that, but my i850 SIM card works in my i730, so I can't imagine any problems vice versa. Hope that helps!! -Charlie
