I called tech support at Sprint and spoke to a very knowleadable rep named Terrell and I told him my problem and he told me that a Sprint tech. was sent out to my neighborhood to check my problem. He said that the tech's phone passed two test phone calls and it failed at least one call. He said that the tech. still needs to check out with a laptop by plugging in his phone and seeing how good of reading the phone gets while on the Sprint PCS nationwide network. He said the tech. will check in our neighborhood and around our area and around the tower. He said to call back on Monday or Tuesday at the latest and see how the progress is going. He also noted on our account that if the problem isn't resolved or resolved to our satisfaction then we would either a) get the $300 ETF waived or worse case scenario we would have to pay $150 (half of the fee). So I will post a update next week once I hear what happened and let everyone know the outcome.
Even if they promise you they are going to add a tower it would take a long time for that to happen anyways, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. I'm just surprised that the tech gave you such detailed information.
Yeah me too. There was supposed to be a tower put up last December (the 4th to be exact according to Sprint), but it still isn't up. The other tower that is supposed to be put up won't be up until March at the earliest (but the tech said that it would probably not be until May until it is fully working). But I am just glad that he made that note on our account regarding the ETF.
That is pretty cool they went into the details of the test they did on the system & gave you the results. It will be interesting to see what they tell you when they call back for the Neighborhood results. Good luck & even 1/2 is better then nothing if you have to cancel.
LMAO you don't really believe all of that do you? Customer service has no connections to the RF dept. so they won't have any dates as to when a new tower might or might not be coming.
Do yourself a favor and call back in or stop by your local store and make sure that note was placed on your account. When a CSR promises that kind of credit you should double check to make sure they were not just saying that to get you off the phone.
I am going to call back today and see if that credit was there. I heard him typing a message.....so hopefully he wasn't pretending to type.
No not even tech support but I suppose it's possible that someone on the local RF level could end up with your complaint and actually have accurate info on towers but it's not very likely. But it can happen.
Update: I called Sprint today and the $300 dollars was waived. :smilebig: We get our last bill around February 21 (3-5 days later like usual). We can use our service up into then....but after that no. We are going to get Verizon (two phones with a 1 year agreement on each...it is a little more....but it is worth it.)
That's great to hear that they let you out without paying the ETF! AFter all this, you deserved it...now let's see what problems you'll have with VZW, lol I actually just got off the phone w/ CS to change my account to the new plans, I now get 200 more peak minutes and save $20 per month. I"m happy, Andy
Yes I am happy. Now if Verizon works everywhere.......lol Glad to hear you have a better plan now and that you are happy.
Wow the fact that they waived the $300 must mean they found trouble in your area or knew that they had changed something that could have made service become worse. I'm glad they admitted the problem (which is very unusual). And now that you've cancelled that new tower will probably be up very soon.
I doubled check to make sure the statement about both of our fees will be waived was on our account, and Michael said that they will be. I also got his "site" number and he made a note on my account that he verified the information and made sure it was correct and then signed his named and his site number. Is that good enough to make sure the two ETF's will be waived?
Cool. I just didn't want my parents to get ripped off....since I have read online that it has happened to other people in the past.
It's good to hear the CSR was honest & right about putting this into your account, and obviously they did know something either what he told you was true & on the Up & Up or as Larry said they knew of a problem prior & it was already in there system. Good luck with Verizon & hope you have no problems & better coverage with Sprint, which i am sure you will.
Thanks Fire14. We switched and ported our old cell phone numbers (both took 9 minutes total to port....the 1st one 5 minutes after fully activated, and the other one 4 minutes later). We got two LG VX7000 phones, and America's Choice 1000 plan (2 lines: 1000 minutes two share, unlimited n&w, and unlimited in on both lines). The phones are 100% better in our neighborhood and inside our house. The real test will be to see if the phones suck on my campus like Verizon did in Novemeber of 2003....hopefully they won't and then we will be set.
Well even if they do, aren't they going to built out in your area this year anyways? Also, does VZW include Sprint as a roam partner in your area? Then you could always fall back onto them just in case.
Yes, that's true, but i just looked at detailed PRL 50233 and it does include Sprint as Extended Network in FL, or at least parts of it... or am I misreading something?
Does it tell where it includes Sprint as extended? What cities, areas, etc? Also, where did you find the detailed PRL information? Thanks.
Looked to me like it was all of FL??? I went to www.mountainwireless.com then chose PRL page, then clicked on PRL50233(not the changes), but it brings up exactly what's in the PRL, and I hit the search button, that's how I found out.
To be exact: 04654 PCS FRM Sprint PCS SCAN 325D 375D 350D MTA037 Jacksonville, FL-GA 04151 PCS FRM Sprint PCS SCAN 50A 100A 75A MTA015 Miami, FL 05116 PCS FRM Sprint PCS SCAN 325D 375D 350D MTA013 Tampa, FL That's what I found, along with Alltel and the former AT&T Analog network in some areas. hope this helps, Andy
That's a neat site, Alot of information on it. Thanks for posting the link to it. I will have to get some time to the info on it though.
