I continue to receive unwanted text messages from the phone number 678-000-0000 with sports scores that I no longer want. I signed up for these alerts about 4 years ago, and have tried to delete the alerts online through Verizon's website, but to no avail. I don't remember where I subscribed, but it must not have been through Verizon. I can't block these messages because Verizon won't allow you to block messages from phone numbers - at least not that I can see. As a side note, this has become an issue since I am suddenly being charged $.10 a piece for these messages after updating my TXT allowance to pay $5.00/month for "unlimited" texting, as I was told by the Verizon rep. Well what they didn't mention is that it is unlimited IN TXTing, so now I am actually paying MORE a month than I was before when I DIDN'T have unlimited TXT messages, bcause I pay for any messages over 50 that come from outside Verizon. This was flat out lying in the sales pitch, since the person told me the deal wasn't changing other than it would be unlimited.

Anyway, any help on how to stop the 678-000-0000 messages would be appreciated! Thanks!

I might try replying the message with the short code 67800 with "stop", "quit", "cancel", "unsubscribe" or end... if that doesn't work, next time you call Customer Service ask to speak with the Data group or WDTS.

    Good luck.

reply with "stop all" and that should cancel it, you appear to have signed up for some sort of premium sms messaging service and most likely will be billed by whatever company it is, usually 9.99. just so you know this is third party stuff not VZW and cannot be cancelled or credited by VZW.

I have a similiar problem; however, my problem is with text messages from Verizon's partners. I use VZW with MSN which uses Fox Sports for their sports alerts; I cannot get one of these to delete. I've had in on for about a year.

be01107, I'd say your advice does not apply:
    but
Besides that, I wouldn't let my personally identifiable information touch that website with a ten foot pole.:loony:

What kind of phone do you have? I recently upgraded to the Samsung 740. On it, if I go to Messaging, then choose Settings with the left soft key, go to Text Messages, I then have an option to Block/Unblock, and this allows me to set a phone # or email up to 48 characters.

Also, blocking the number will not do you any good if you are being charged a separate fee for the alerts, the overage fee VZW charges you is not what I'm referring to in this case.

On another note, the alerts I signed up for from VZW always come from "1111", if that's any help.

Have you called Verizon about text message blocking and they've told you they can't block it if it's from a phone number? Or are you assuming this? I have text message blocking from them and have never had a problem anymore with unwanted texts.

It shouldn't matter where the texts come from. If it registers on the phone as a text message, you should be able to have Verizon put the text block feature on.

I just noticed that this was a resurrected thread from 2006. It's likely the OP has solved this issue, but if anyone reading this has this issue, call Verizon first and see what they can do.
