    Hi:

Apologies in advance, I'm a newbie...

I've searched around looking for an answer, but have not been sucessful, so...

I have a blackberry storm with a Verizon account. I would like to be able to unlock the GSM sim slot so I can use the phone in Europe without Vodaphone roaming charges, but would like to retain my Verizon account.

Is this doable? Does unlocking detach my CDMA ESN from Verizon?

    Thanks in advance...

Re: what does unlocking a quad band do?

    Hello hbric, welcome tp WA.

Unlocking the Storm for usage in Europe will not affect your Verizon account in any way. You will still retain your Verizon account.

verizon does actually have a program whereby if you have had active service for longer than 6 months and always pay your bill on time, they will actually provide you with the unlock code. Contact customer service for more details.

Came across a forum reply that listed the following number to unlock a Storm for use in Europe.

A good number of people in the thread said they had used it successfully. There are apparently parameters such as how long you've been a Verizon customer, etc. As I don't qualify according to the posts, I'm holding off for a bit prior to calling. As a result, I can't vouch for the veracity of the number, but there were a lot of people saying they used it successfully.

Here it is ... call 1-888-844-0395
