I will be traveling out of the USA soon, and do not trust many of the online vendors of unlocking services. Does anyone know of a cellular service provider in the Boston area who can unlock a Motorola V600 GSM phone? Help!

Well I don't see what advantage that would have. Instead of going and purchasing only a foreign SIM card after arriving in the country, the OP also has to search a place to have the phone unlocked before he can use it...too much hassle...

You can use it w/ any carrier.
Use it as a backup phone when you're charging you're phone.
Still use it when you change carrier.
Charge the phone keep it in your car as backup.

You're on the road and accidentally broke your new phone, remove sim card and use it on your backup phone, and call Custumer Service for a new phone.
There's no way you can do this w/ a CDMA phone

Jones, what the heck??? I was saying that I don't see the advantage of the OP going outside the country first, then unlocking his phone in the foreign country as you suggested.
I did not say anything about the advantages/ disadvantages about having an unlocked phone...

It would be better to do it abroad. I'm just answering the question.
Whether it's an advantage or not, is up to him.

I'm not the original poster, but I'm also interested in finding someone offering unlock services in the Boston area. Could you please post info for this place?

    Thanks.

I know a great place in Malden to unlock any kinds of phone.

    Here is the address:
    Casablanca Wireless
    289, Salem Street
    Malden MA 02148

    Phone: 781-397-0422

The dude who works there his name is Dave Younes
I think they unlock phones by appointment for $19.95.
Give a shot and call them
