    Hi everyone,
I got the basic info I needed in my previous thread and was wondering if any of you could recommend any good Nokia or Motorola unlocked gsm phones which are good for cingular. As I mentioned earlier I don't have the budget to go above $100-$120 maybe, what could be my choices. Is there a camera phone possible in this range? I'm ok with a dual or tri band since I'll be using it mostly in North America. Also, would it be a wise choice to get a locked phone from say ebay and then either get it unlocked or do it myself through the guides/howtos available on the net?
    As always, thank in advance

    go to

    www.bargainoffers.com

they have every gsm phone company pretty much and a lot of phones for good prices.
I bought my phone there and yea. Just to warn you, a lot of the phones do not work on cingular's 850mhz network(the site tells you what networks and mhz the each phone uses) and cingular uses 850 mhz all over the place.:)

Just about any Nokia is a good phone as long as it has the 850/1900 bands.
It really depends on what your looking for, the 3595, 3220, 6800/20 are good Nokia's that are older and cost less then the newer Nokia's.

As for Motorola, Mr camp is correct the V551, 557, 600, 635 phones are very good models.
Remember when buying off Ebay, make sure the seller has a 98+ rating and read all of the feedback on the seller.

I agree. The V551/V557 is a fine model, has bluetooth, and works well in low signal areas. If you re-up w/ Cingular for 2 years you can get one for free, and then spend $20 to unlock it. Otherwise you can buy one on Ebay for under $100.

Wow! Thanks a lot guys for all the info. I'm very patient with my purchases, also, not to mention financial priorities sometimes dictate our situations :) Anyway,
cool_chicken: thx for the link, will check out bargainoffers.com and will be careful about 850 Mhz.

    Fire14: thx for the recommendations

Jay2TheRescue : Thx for your recommendation too. I have one question, you mentioned "if I re-up my contract with cingular for 2 yrs, I can get a V551/557 for free and then get it unlocked for $20"
Do you mean just get the phone free from Cingular and get it unlocked by a 3rd party? if Cingular gives me the phone and I use Cingular then why would I need to unlock it??
Secondly, I'm actually on a former AT&T plan which Cingular does not offer and several times when I've tried to talk to their customer service, they keep on saying that in order to get a new device or anything I will have to switch plans to Cingular.
This is my understanding, if there is anything or a way to get around this, I will be eternally grateful :)
    Please let me know.
    Thanks again you all.

Yes in order to get the V557 for free you would have to migrate over to their plan, which means you would loose the benefits of your current Blue plan.

So depending on what plan you currently have it's most likely not worth switching over yet, especially since us Blue customers did end up with better plans prior to the merger, including more minutes & free incoming SMS.

So unless they have a plan that is equal to or close to what you have now or need, I would go shopping for an unlocked phone.

The biggest benefit for migrating over right now would be the rollover minutes, and hopefully when they force us to migrate over they will give us some incentives to ease the pain. :lmao:

Uzee, A cingular locked phone will ONLY take cingular's sim. Unlocking your phone (via 3rd party or by getting the code from cingular) means your phone is lock-free. So, you can put any provider's sim card in it. You can take it to tmobile and use it there. Or say you travel internationally, you can just buy local prepaid sims and put it in your phone.
