    anybody think one day there may be a universal cell phone that will work on any neywork with any technology that would be cool

    I for one believe there will be, they can put more and more in one chip, and there are already several CDMA / GSM dual mode phones. Looking at it from a manufacturing point of view, why would you not want to make one model for both, instead of 2 different models.

    yeh ur right but it would be farther cool if you could just have your 1 carrier and be extended nework with their parteners and when theres nothing at all be roaming with a different network that would however make it where companies would not be very different and slow the price wars and that kind of stuff

    That's actually possible now, but i don't think it would come cheap for the manufacturer as well as the comsumer.

    if you think about it that would be like buying several phones at once because of the different [arts needed for different networks
