I had t-mobile for 2 weeks then couldn't take it anymore. Wouldn't work at home (spirint did previously). Also, driving thru Irvine (shudder) I could hear the call quality degrade passing from one cell site and improve as it swapped to the next site. Their customer service was generic call center undertrained staff. Over all, it seemed rather half-assed. I've had Sprint, then Worldcom. At least worldcom's tdma worked, unlike T-Mobile.
all lets just face it... GSM, while a great technology, just needs to have more cell sites up in the whole US period!!!
Don't worry -- 3 of the major cellular companies are increasing GSM coverage in the US. As far as T-Mobile goes, I have had it for two weeks. So far, no dropped calls, and no system busies. For a week, I went around with my AT&T TDMA phone (8260) to compare coverage (as best as I could with available equipment). and coverage everywhere--except one place--where my ATT phone has coverage in bay area (strength differed a bit, but not in a 4 bars compared to zero bars kind of way). That comparison is kind of dumb, since I know AT&T's TDMA network rules anyway, but it was an interesting experiment. The one thing I am not satisfied with is the echo I hear sometimes when talking to people on landlines. Anyone think this would be different with a different handset than the v60?
Chef I have to copy you. I have had TM since they launched in July (about two month by now) and I have not had any major issues or problems till now. I am very happy with them, esp. considering the amount of minutes per $$$. I live in SF and work all over the bay area. Re the echoing problem: I have had an echo once or twice on my P-280 but never on my S-40. Somebody in some other thread suggested it may be related to having the phone on full volume. Try to turn your volume down and see what happens the next time. Just an idea. C.
