    As of March 4th:

    Treo 600 and Verizon
palmOne also acknowledged that the Treo 600 is currently undergoing the standard testing and approval trials within Verizon. They remarked that the company has one of the most arduous handset approval processes, which accounts primarily for the delay in the rollout. Each mobile carrier has a testing phase where they test and fine tune handsets and software that will run on their networks before can qualify the device. Mrs Bruner, even commented that Verizon is more of a "follower rather than a leader" when it comes to deploying new handsets.

If it passes testing, I'd guess an end of year release.

I've heard probably August, I was hoping it would be hear before LNP phase II, but hey, I'm just happy to have LNP coming...

I'm not a huge fan of the Treo, but customers do like them and they sell really well that's all that matters to my paycheck.

Agree with that. I see quite a few on the street esp. with the corporate guys in the suits. One time on the bus saw this guy that had the Treo and Blackberry. Talk about being connected.

    what is LNP phase II?

what do you not like about the treo?

    what would you recommend instead?
I'm definitely looking for a phone with pda and email capabilities... i was thinking the samsung i600, i liked its size and what it had to offer.... i wasn't sure how the pocket outlook would work and have heard form many people, maybe incorrectly, that the palm platform is better generally

is there anything else coming out that I should maybe wait on? if I wait for verizon, it might be quite a while

then again, the mot v710 whenever it comes out might be interesting

LNP Phase II is for porting in all markets/MSAs. Currently, porting is just allowed in the top 100 MSAs.

I wish the treo would come out. I think its pathetic that it's been good enough for Sprint for six months but it's not good enough for Verizon. Granted, some of this is due to manufacturing problems...but still....

At least there aren't rumors running rampant on what the release date might be.

On HoFo, VZW Employee is reporting that come July 6th, the Treo 600 should be available for sale. There may also be an option to get it with or without the camera.

I am just the messenger, but thought this may be of interest. Take it w/ a grain of salt...

OK, there have been news stories on CNN that the treo 600 will indeed be released by verizon, I think they quoted the end of June. There is still absolutely NO info or buzz on this site or other sites that I have checked....very disappointing. I have been waiting for this since the treo 600 hit the market...

When I was Sales Manager of a CLEC, before we launched our service in an area we would pre-sale and the standard response from our network engineers as to when a product would be ready was two weeks. It got to be a really sick joke because it was never ready in two weeks.

So I predict the Treo and the A710 will be here in two weeks.

PalmOne's stock price up dramatically especially due to sales of the Treo... imagine if Verizon offered it too

i spoke with my corp sales rep and he confirmed a delivery date of the week after July 4th, and that a few had been floating around, although only people really on the in had their hands on them yet.

Yeah... well they were supposed to release today June 28th... Here it is June 28th none available to order and several upset customers. I got in touch with my data contact and him along with everybody else at VZW was wondering "well where the heck are they?" Turns out VZW has delayed the launch of these devices.

    :(

OK, well our corp rep told me at least a week ago now that the release was pushed back a week, which matches with your date of the 28th, now being after July 4th. He quoted me July 6th (first day back from holiday weekend).

I may be a little biased by my line of work, but I find that palms are inferior to windows handhelds, you'll find much more in the way of expandability and built in media options with a winCE machine, than with a palm machine...palms are personal organizers that double as a handheld computer, winCE devices are handheld computers that double as personal organizers (how we see things neway)

    -- sabre

--- definitely look into the Windows versions too, i belive theres a new motorola that looks excellent (the MPx200 i belive)

I've spent several years on both platforms, and while I agree that the win models are superior computers, the treo is a much better integrated device. The treo will replace my ipaq 4150, of which i will miss many many features, but wont miss carrying 2 devices.

The Windws "Smartphones" don't have touchscreens or any other good data entry. Honestly, the majority of Windows based handhelds cannot compete with the QWERTY thumb board that the Treo offers.

I carry the i600 smartphone and in the past I had the treo 300 I prefer the windows operating systems but the thumb keyboard is a really nice feature I'm probably going to pass on the treo 600 and go for the htc harrier

I miswrote in the previous message a little bit and I can't edit for some reason... the ad for the Treo and Verizon is in the FORTUNE - Special Investor's Issue with the title RETIRE RICH which says to be displayed until 10/4/04.... the date inside the magazine is 7/12/04

I have a current Money magazine with an add for a Treo 600. At the bottom of the page, there are logos of the various wireless companies across the bottom, Verizon Wireless is one of the logos listed.
