I recently purchased a 1GB transflash memory card, and put it in my V3m. I for the life of GOD, can't figure out how to store my mp3's or anything else on it, and have them play with the phone. They're invisible it seems.

I have all of the seem edits done, and I'm using MPT. Can someone elaborate for me, what I have to do to use the built in "music player"? Thanks!

Make sure they are in .wma format. Go into get it now, tunes, then manage music. The player will load, saying "adding songs to library" and then you will be able to play.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a tag editor, and making sure all your music's tags are up to date, otherwise it will be a pain to find songs.

The best way IMO to add songs to listen to is thru WMP10. Create the list of songs u want, you can change the id3 tags for all the similar songs so they get filed properly, and then sync them. It changes them into the corerct .wma file, and will store them according to artist/album, etc whatever u want them to be set at. Even though I have multiple songs from different albums from the same artist, u can set it up in WMP so they all show up under the same artist, therefore organizing the music better.

For ringtone transfer, etc, MPT is the bets for that.

I've put .wma files in the root directory of the card, and in the "my music" folder, and it's not finding them. I'm getting, "Player Error: Music is not available."

    Am I missing anything else?

Also, with this card, is it just for music? I can't seem to take pictures, and have them stored on it. It's just filling up my main memory.

This phone is pissing me off...

I fired up MP10, went to sync, and then it recognized my phone as a v3c, and now it's not working with any programs... This happens all of the time, and it takes me forever to figure out how to install the phone to work with MPT and bitpim again...

Any tutorials on how to use WMP with the phone?

I dont believe u cna just transfer music in wma format straight to the card. The music does eventually end up in the my_music folder o n the flash card, but i have only had success thru wmp10. You choose whether to send the music it syncs to the phone, or to the card.

As for file transfers such as pictures/ringtones, are you using MPT? If so, tell me which folder u are storing them in. On the card, or on the phone? If you are trying to use them as ringtones, or as picture id/ringer id, they MUST be on the phones internal memory

I've used MPT for everything so far... I was hoping that the card would be an expansion to the memory, so that I can take more than a couple of pictures...

I'm currently just trying to add mp3's/music to my phone, and wanting to play it with the media player. I'm going to try and get WMP to work with the phone to get that going.

I guess having the photos stored on the card isn't something that's going to happen then.

windows media player is the easiest thing to use to get songs on your phone if you just want to listen. If you are looking for ringtones I like using MPT.

There is a file you need to run if your computer is detecting the V3c everytime you plug the phone in while its turned on. Its an mtpfix file that motorolla I think designed specifically for detecting the v3m phone. Your phone will be detected correctly after you load this and the sync process is really easy once you get this loaded.

I am pasting the information from another thread here to try and help. This solved several problems for me and got me towards a resolved syncing process with my computer.

I had to get my phone (V3m) recognized as a modem first. That meant turning off the phone and plugging it into my PC and then installing the USB driver that came on a CD from Verizon.

Open up the the Windows device manager and make sure it says Motorola Modem.

    Leave the phone turned off.

The next step was to run the fix I downloaded from them. Then when I turned on my phone it was recognized as new hardware as an MTP Media Player.

The main thing was to make sure the PC sees the phone as a modem. Make sure it is still turned off otherwise windows will try to install the V3c drivers before the patch is applied. After you apply the patch turn the phone on and then you should be able to install the drivers needed to let windows see it as a Media Player

    Good Luck

I have my phone working correctly, I just have to restart the phone. That usually fixes it.

As far as WMP goes, I've followed the tutorials, and used the sync function on my phone, but by doing that, Windows detects my phone as a V3c again, and stops working. Obviously, no sync at that point.

    I can't figure it out! :)

It is supposed to recognize it as a v3c, so dont let that stop you.

Ok, that's fine, but when I hit next, it says that the detected hardware isn't functioning... My phone never works when it's detected as a V3c. WMP itself has never detected my phone, or vise versa.

Once u have installed the driver tool, shut off your phone, plug it in, windows should then automatically recognize and install the correct drivers, and start charging your phone. Can u get to that point?

Mine only worked when it showed as a MPT device after installing that MPT fix file I posted about earlier in this thread. V3c detected followed by no drivers to install the hardware is a perpetual loop of hell.
