    Hi,

I have Verizon Communications Samsung SCH-u410 that broke. Its under my dads plan and he has a year left on contract. Is it possible to buy a verizon pre-paid phone and transfer the pre-paid phone to his account.

In other words can I use the prepaid phone with the old number? Any instructions would be great.

    Thanks!

VZW policy is that the prepaid device be used on VZW prepaid for 6 months before it's allowed on postpaid. However, sometimes, new prepaid devices can be activated immediately. No guarantees, though.

You can pick up a prepaid VZW phone and attempt to activate the phone online without opening the package (the ESN is printed on a label outside of the package). If it activates, great. If not, return it.

    Good luck.
