Can anyone tell me how tracfone works? They claim to piece together the various networks to offer a nationwide coverage but it seems that they depend on the old analog technology. And their prices seem really high, especially if you roam. Any info would be appreciated.

Tracfone uses a local provider and provides high rates.

There minutes are going down but are still to high

go with verizon prepay or if you could tell us more about your location maybe we can help you more

Hello Jack-Thanks for the info on Tracfone. I don't plan on using them but was just curious how they operate the network. I tried the Timeport phone at at Verizon store here and really like it. . The speaker phone feature is great and it's Motorola! You can also get a larger battery for more talk time. Dan
