Wow, 50 in 1 hour that would be incredible, I know even with all the sites by me, that would be impossible, including if I used lights & sirens. Unless your using a plane. But if you could, that would be nice to see, pictures in a states that don't have any posted in yet. I enjoy checking out the pictures from all over the country & world to see the difference's over places I haven't been to.
I happened to luck out, we received a grant from an Insurance company to buy digital camera's for our investigation unit & prevention unit, & since the grant was for $700.00 & we had to get 2 camera's, we got the Canon Powershot A95's and both with came with a case, 32MB & an additional 256MB Flash card, rechargable batteries & charger. I was hoping to spend it all on 1 camera but wasn't allowed, since we needed the 2. I have been learning the different features while getting photos for the site & am starting to learn how to & how not to photograph things. :lmao: And these trees are becoming a real pain, getting in the way of my shot's Good luck with that camera & if you don't mind, let me know how it works out.
The quality is awesome on the camera. This camera has good quality and I can now take good photographs of towers with this camera around my town and on vacation this summer with my family. I bought the 1 GB SD card that holds about 154 pictures, which is more than enough. My laptop has a SD port on it, so all I have to do to upload the pictures is to stick the card in the slot and choose which photos I want to upload. My dad has a Sony Cyber-shot 8 megapixel with a nice lens on it, but I couldn't afford to get a camera that expensive so this is the next best thing at 7.1 megapixels.
I have been doing my best to pull over, If I ever asked my wife to take the pictures, she would probobly tell me I'm crazier then she thought & tell me to pound salt. I do know the trees can be a real problem, they keep jumping out in front of cars all the time.
I've taken most of my pics while I was driving! Fire...I'm glad one of those buggers didn't jump in front of me the second was looking and snapping a pic
I can see the police officers face now "But honost officer, I was taking pictures of cell towers for a web site & the tree just jumped out in front of me, it knew i couldn't see it & stop in time" :lmao:
 There is a cool tower that is disguised next to I-75. I wish I could get a picture of it, but I can take a picture when I go between 70-80 mph.
Nah I wouldnt have to. Heck I can even walk out the front door of work and see six different towers. And there is six more that I know of no more than 1 mile from work. There is roughly 15 towers or on building sites within a 2 mile radius of my home. And another 12 or so inbetween. Thats not counting the sites that are just out of sight from the highway. Dobson,Nextel,Alltel and VZW have been very, very busy around here the last couple of years. IPCS(Sprints affiliate) has been "evaluating" their "highway only" coverage, and have expressed great satifaction with thier coverage. The only cites they have added are within a few blocks of existing sites built by Sprint. One is even on a Sprint tower with a colocated site 3 blocks away. If I get a chance this weekend I'll snapshots of them, and post them. But should I stop at 50 or not?
Wow, everyone in your area must enjoy excellent coverage, Hopefully we all can have that 1 day. Go for getting the pictures & don't stop at 50, the more the better for everyone.
 I wish, but when the traffic is bumper to bumper (since I-75 isn't supposed to be expanded until 2030 ), I can't slow down even a little, because of the traffic behind me. I have to go up to my campus today with my parents and my sister, since she has her convocation today, and her graduation tomorrow. I will try to snap a picture of the tower in the front passenger seat.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (MobilePhone SCP-5500/US/1.0) NetFront/3.0 MMP/2.0) Everybody But Sprint Customers. Thanks To Ipcs And Their Highway Coverage Only Philosophy. Wich Sucks Bad!
You must live in the same area as my Parents do, I guess with all the problems they had with 75 a few years ago, they don't have the money to expand it now.
Ok. Well, we are south of Sarasota by about 117 miles from your parents close to I-75 (our house is about 3-4 miles from I-75).
Hey Shizam & telecom, I just posted a few pictures for Il, taken on the way to Chicago. They were all taken from the car, so some are not too clear and also it was a pretty miserable day today.....Just giving excuses for bad picture taking...
Well, I went out today and found a tower, but mostly pannels on the casinos (I think). Tuesday I will go the other side off the river to snap some pics of some towers in Bullhead. This is fun, but I wish I had a phone from every provider in my area. It would make it so much easier to tell which sites/pannels belong to which providers.
Alright I snapped a few shots on my way to work yesterday. They were all taken while driving so some arent very clear. These sites are most of the site visable from the highway(us-31) on the way to work. I didnt get pictures of all of them though. 3 of the pics are of off seaway drive. There is about a dozen more just out of sight from the highway. I have yet to really get started taking pictures of towers. We quite litterally have more towers than trees. Well almost but its getting there. These sites are located along us-31 from the russel rd exit south to 32nd and us-31 in holland. There is 6(?) more towers about a mile south and a mile west of the 32nd & us-31 location. I will try to be the first one to reach 100 pics. But understand it takes me about a week to come up with even an hour of spare time. So I'll plug away at it. good luck everyone.
I think fire and charlyee will get to 100 pretty soon. You may need to work faster to get there first.
I haven't checked to see where everybody is at. But if I get a little time this weekend i can do it easily. So I'll cross my fingers and hope that it will take them longer than that. I had to skip about a dozen or so towers to take the route that I did. Maybe one of these mornings I'll take the long way to work. I'll pick up another 50 or so new pics going that way. Maybe tomorrow.
Thanks for the vote of confidence , but I have maybe another 7 or so and then I am "towered out" untill I get to take a trip somewhere.
I have been so busy this past week, I haven't had a chance to hit the area's I want to, hopefully by this weekend if the wife lets me out for a little while. But I also want to thank you for the vote of confidence.
I got my coffee mug today, that was really quick. It is great looking and the perfect size for my drinking habit , I will be using it every day. Thank you very much Joe.
Now all we need is a picture of you to be posted in the winners archives... :browani: i posted mine but i guess they didn't want it....lol
In case this has not been brought up. There is a 2mb limit on file size. With my camera I can thak a 5 megapixel photo in normal setting but not in fine. The fine setting is about 2.5 megapixels. I have to do it all over again. I just filled my memory card yesterday morning, but had it set to 5MP fine mode. This sucks. Oh well. In conclusion do't go over 4-5 MP and maybe you wont have to take all the pictures all over again like me.
I know the feeling. If I get to do the round trip I want to, I will have to pick up a couple more 512 MB XD cards. It takes about 2 hourd to drive it, but will take at least 3x that long to stop and take all the pics.
