The fact that in all of Manhattan, there might not be ONE monopole for a cell tower?
T-mobile gives you 50 free SMS, not MMS. this is because their old voicemail system used SMS when it notified you of a new voicemail. They didn't want their customers to pay for those SMS msgs. so they give you 50 free.
Official TM SMS never counted against you, and they still don't. However, in late 2003 TM stopped including 50 incoming SMS. If your rate plan is older than arounce October 2003, you still have them and are grandfathered, but it hasn't been offered in some time.
Just added 6 for Illinois, we're up to 12 (not much but its a start). Had to give Shizam a little help.
How about you and Shizam giving your neighbor from the North some help, specially when you both are from Northern IL.
WI only has 4 and no seems to be adding to it.
Thanks telecomjunkie....I was in the gallery first, so didn't see this post right away. I mentioned thanks there too.
At this rate.....we can overtake Fire14 and bobolito over in Jersey! :browani:
Charlyee....WI only has 4 people from here(WA).....or 4 cell towers?
telecom is closer then me to WI.....I'm in southern, northern Illinois. Southwest of Chicago. It's a 2- 2½ hour ride to the border for me
Although it would be fun to help you out Charlyee
Excellent, lets see how well you do on taking over bobolitto & me on this :lmao:
It's all in fun & helping the forums, and I wasn't even thinking of it as a competition, I have just had fun looking for towers more then normal & waiting to get pulled over by a cop for taking pictures of towers.
Is anybody close to 50 yet? It is hard to keep up with all the submissions!
If anybody thinks they have 50, send me a PM and I'll check it out.
There's still plenty of time to rise to the top 5, even if you haven't submiited any pictures yet!
Charlyee, well I might be able to slide across the border to Wisconsin (its only 5 minutes north of my house). Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to get out and about, if the weather improves a little. I need to break in my camera anyways. Yesterday's pics I was still trying to get the camera to focus properly. Using a Kodak DX7590, 5 mp 10X optical. Thats why the pic shows no background, I was trying to zoom as close as possible to the tower head.
Shizam or anyone, I am kinda a newbie here so I was curious when you said you mentioned thanks in the gallery also. Is there another location for replies that I am missing. I see one of my pictures has a reply listed but for some reason I haven't found that reply. Not really important but I like to know as much as possible about what I working with.
ALL, never mind. Just another case of speaking before doing a good search. Figured it out. Didn't realize to click on the picture before.
Thanks telecomjunkie1 , that will be wonderful , you are really close to the WI border then. BTW, I have heard great reviews of the Kodak DX7590, how do you like it? My WI pictures are taken with my Nokia 6230 and my Egypt ones are still shots from my Sony Digital Video, neither produces as good a picture as a digital still camera as you can see.
Shizam, so where are the other 3 people from WI? Hey I got 4 cell towers and so 4 people should do 16 right?
I know you live that far away, I was just teasing you but thanks for the thought anyway.
Charlyee, so far I am satisfied with it. I wanted a digital that had a good optical zoom, mine with 10x, not those 3x's and so far I have not been disappointed. I have printed pictures at home on my HP printer and they come out great the next step is to start printing at Target or Walmart. Also the Kodak is so easy to use I haven't paid to much attention to the manual. I bought the 512MB memory card and I can take almost 350 pictures on full res so basically it has become point and shoot and throw out the bad pictures later without thought for memory getting full. The video clips work well also decent sound and picture is good. Again I am satisfied but its also my first digital after some decent amount of research, 4 months and counting.
Agreed. Me either. I'm not even posting to win.....just for the fun of getting the picture and posting it so everyone can see what they look like near me.
We all do it now and then.....no biggie
Hehehe....I was being sarcastic a bit :O I was asking you if you meant that there were only 4 people in the state of wisconsin, or only 4 towers in the entire state..... I know I know....bad joke
Charlyee, Just added 2 for wisconsin.
Shizam, just added 4 more for Illinois.
:highclap: Cool.....keep em coming telecom......
Thanks very much telecomjunkie1, very nice shots. I know just where they are.
Here are the standings as of today 4/25/05:
Fire14 is on the verge of 50!
Otherwise, there is plenty of room for anybody to take the other top 4 spots.
Thanks for the all great shots so far! It is neat to see how cell sites differ in various regions of the country.
I will hopefully get several different cellular towers this summer when I go on vacation with my family. Now, all I need is a good digital camera and I am all set. It looks to me like I will either get the Canon PowerShot 7.1-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera or the Sony Cyber-shot 7.2-Megapixel Digital Camera.
I am leaning more towards the Canon PowerShot 7.1-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera.
WOW! Isn't that thing $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I'll give you guys a chance. I can get pictures of 50 cell sites in about an hour. And not go more than 10-12 miles in any direction. So I dont think it would be to fair. Good luck towwer hunting!
I'm thinking about getting a Konica-Minolta DiMAGE X50. 3x optical zoom and 5 MP in a tiny package for a little over $200. I was sold when I saw my wife's grandfather's. Of course, when my wife will let me buy it....
Really? I have yet to see a digital cam OVER 4MP that is around 200. All the good 4 MP's I've seen are around 180 bucks....as soon as you go to the 5 and up MP's, 240 +
Searching on Froogle, I saw prices for the x50 in the $215-270 range.
Just found one for $200:
Would you fly around like Superman to do that?
Come on...go ahead and get them...nobody has submiited any from Michigan yet. We want to see some cell sites from MI and if you can accomplish that feat...... :notworthy
Yes it is.
But luckily I have been saving up my money in the bank for several months. So I went ahead and bought the camera at Circuit City with a memory card (1 GB), and a 4 year protection plan.
Boy, that set me back a LOT!!!!!!!!
But it is worth it, since the quality is amazing.
I will definitely get some good use out of it this summer, when I go on vacation with my family.
