After 5 months of owning an iPhone 7, decided to go for the 7 Plus.

So picked one up from the Apple Store on Friday, and then immediately regretted my decision because of how big it looked.

Decided to try getting used to the size and shape and used it. extensively over the weekend. I realized quickly that the size wasn't that hard to get used to.

To make a long story short, I am loving all the improvements over the 7 and the size is often a bonus.

I haven't had a chance to use the camera yet, hopefully soon.

That awful home button, @charlyee. A waste of space.

One benefit that I've found (when I had the Samsung Note), is that it was a very capable "reader" device. The smaller phones just didn't make reading that easy. My preference I suppose. Congrats on your upgrade.

    Thanks KJ,

Yes it is much easier to read, in fact I have been using my phone in times where previously I would reach for my iPad.

    Awesome,
welcome to the big boys club Chai
You know i've had a plus for over two years now and have never looked back since then.
I must say at times i have contemplated on going back to a regular iphone just because of the practical size but after using my daughter's regular iphone i immediately missed the big screen so i promptly squashed that idea.
So now Chai, please tell us how many cases you're gonna buy for your plus?

Thanks Tony, it's good to know that you never looked back.

I have the black leather and have no plans to get any other, being out of cash makes it easier to abstain.

Somehow I missed this big decision post, Charlyee.

Congratulations! I'm really enjoying mine, and now a non plus looks ridiculous small to me.

I do find it too large at times, when in my front pocket and sitting down. Sometimes I take the case off and it fits better. I do find the naked plus much easier to hold in my hand....but mostly it's in a case.

But I'm never going back, overall it a much better phone, and the camera twin lens cool.

Thanks vf, I got used the larger size very quickly, like it wasn't even an issue. Hubby's 6s feels so small now.

I started with the iPhone 5 and almost got the 4s because of the size and shape but didn't due to lack of LTE - how things change.

Thank you, Charlie. Say, if I 'Press home to open' on your locked screen, will I get a wart on my finger?

I think you lock your screen to prevent horizontal rotation. But on the plus series, new things happen when composing test, reading emails, etc.

Lol vf, don't mess with my pet unless you want to get your finger bit off or get whacked with a spiny whip.

Yes, I did used to have rotation lock on - good memory.

However, I stopped doing it after I got the Plus for exactly reasons you stated.

I haven't really paid any attention to IOS in quite a while. In the screenshot above, I was surprised just how much it now looks like Android OS. If I were to get a fleeting glance, I don't think I would have immediately recognized which OS it was.

    Status bar, check
    notifications counts, check
Folders to group like apps, check
    Main apps at bottom, check
    Wallpapers, check
    Multiple home screens, check

It seems that both have become very capable OS systems.

Kevin. The iOS screen arrangement ( and your check list) has pretty much been the same since 2008. App folders came in 2010 with iOS 4.

Most android users considered the iOS -like arrangement you show on your android screen to be boring and behind the times! Usually preferring a clock home screen or something. Too funny.

    KJ,

The picture of your home screen completely threw me. I have never seen an Android screen set up like that.

In fact, one of my reasons for stalling on getting an iOS device was that I couldn't have the home screen set up with widgets like the weather etc.

I am curious as to why you set it up with apps instead of widgets?

The difference between iOS and Android approach is that the latter allows layouts that are functional for @viewfly, @KevinJames and myself, among other people. iOS sadly does not allow layouts that are functional for me.

Yes, I agree that this has been the chief complaint from Android users. I never viewed it as really significantly important to have myself however. I prefer the iOS layout and the Android layout that Kevin chose.

Probably if Apple allowed the flexibility of widgets on the Home screen, it would have saved a terabyte of forum discussion space.

That, or using custom Home screen managers (what Android calls launchers).

I still miss the typical Android home screen layout, and think that the iOS home screen layout is boring.

I didn't find the Android home screen any less functional than iOS. The only advantage of the iOS layout is that I am not "forever" playing around customizing the layout.
