I have been selling this plan today like hotcakes.
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.1.11328/514; U; en)) sounds like a good deal. does this include data?
no but tmobile still has unlimited data for 19.99 per line so if you compare to sprint's plan for example...sprint: unlimited everything for 99.99 per line say you have two lines....199.98, tmobile: 149.99 two lines unlimited talk and text, data 19.99 for each line that's 39.98 =189.97 that's ten dollars less a month in a one year conract that's 120.00 dollars so I think it's a great deal
good for people that know about it and that TMOB works for. lack of 3G sucks but isnt a must. By the way, TMOB works good in my area so im not knocking them, im giving realistic feedback.
no 3G isnt a must but i think ive just gotten so used to EV-DO Rev A on Sprints network that i feel like i wouldnt be able to survive on GPRS in my area.......i dont even think that T-Mobile upgraded my area to EDGE yet
if they dont have EDGE everywhere then WOW. ive noticed since i got 3G here that they improved our EDGE speeds as well. pretty interesting, evidentally they can slightly rev up EDGE...sorta like ATT did before the iphone release as well.
I agree it would be hard to go from 3g to GPRS and even edge would be like going from broadband to dial up, so I definately understand, I am excited about our 3g rollout, from what I have heard from people it has indeed trickled down and effected even non-supported devices, a guy in new york the other day told me his dash internet feels like it's on steroids since the first of may, that was surprising to hear. He was like what happened all of a sudden it is taking seconds for web pages to load and for emails to send/receive, I told him 3g was added on the network, but that his device is not supported, I did advise that the EDGE was probably improved to what it actually should be and that is probably the difference.
nothing official, but what we have been told is that top 25 markets should be complete by mid 3rd quarter, I wish I were higher on the food chain so I could say for sure., oh and we do consider SLC a top 25 market that's why I am stoked, because I am considered in this market too. The rumors that I have heard, and I hate rumors but the one that I hear is that the android google phone is our exclusive device with our nationwide (top 25) 3g rollout and for now launch is scheduled for august/september
ooooooooooo......i cant wait for Android phones to come out........i would think Philly is one of the top 25 because i live in Reading about an hour and a half outside Philly and i hope that we get 3G here before AT&T cuz all the 3G for AT&T is like two hours away to the East and Northeast all closer to Philly
Yeah I have come to realize if Salt Lake gets it Boise is right there with it. If Tmobile can get some good 3g going I might be tempted to give it a shot again.
well I am saving my upgrade for it so when it comes available I plan to post away on here with my idea of pros and cons.
well T-Mobile didnt make any moves so now they have to wait for me until 2010.......unless of course i just set my phone to roam all the time and use ridiculous amounts of data and texting and minutes.......i think the data is what will kill them though......i use over 20MB of data per month i average about 3500 texts and over 700 minutes total.....roaming will spring me out and then i could switch but i wont unless AT&T could lure me with the iPhone or T-Mobile comes out with like a 3G Sidekick or something
The way I try to look at Tmobile is, is that they are a good voice plan carrier. I know they dont have data but there are always short comings in all carriers. Eric what have you heard about ATT in Utah?>?
not necessarily.........just two days ago all calls to AT&T customers in my area were being blocked with a message that all circuits were busy........and it wasnt my phone......i tried it from the house tooo...........and this problem went on for almost 2 1/2 hours actually......not a single call went through at this time and i was trying 3 different AT&T customers
there are massive areas that they are upgrading to 3G....... more than likely bc ATT is 850 in most of PA they probably dont have a roaming partner so that is probably why they are blocked calls. when they upgraded my area here to 3G i had quiet a few weird things, roaming for several hrs in the middle of town...etc. i will say though, the delays are worth it...calling + internet at the same time is just amazing...even at 1 bar of 3G im still running around 300-400kbps full bars ive seen close to 1000kbps
TBH i havent heard anything on Utah, i would assume alltel or verizon would be the best there bc they have been there forever. But id also assume that ATT in salt lake city and whatever other cities there are is probably pretty stout. from my traveling and looking at coverage viewer, Utah and several other states ATT will concentrate mainly on populated areas or places that may be traveled in. they arent generally real big on covering back country areas, though in some cases they have done this or have got the network that way through aquisiton. also i live in GA so thats a long way
yeah but the closest 3G is at least 30 minutes away......my area wont be getting that soon and we all know that AT&T is prone to overloads because of so many customers.............AT&T customers dont even bother with having their cell phones on on New Years Eve in my area because text messages dont go out......calls dont go out.......nothing works.........Sprint and Verizon and T-Mobile and IMMIX on the other hand never have issues
if its 30 mins to 3G expect to have 3G in the next month or 2. they are expanding heavily. that covers load issues. i would assume. problems on new years is typical with all companys. i remember last year, everyone in my area had problems with almost all carriers that i recall.
see in my area AT&T and IMMIX were the only two that had problems.......particularly calls and texts though
Well sad to say that is how ATT is here as well. It is not because of 3G either just because they are to overloaded.
well doesnt moving people to 3G help with capacity issues.......is the capacity issue in the backhaul on the towers or in the amount of channels available for device-to-tower communication?
For AT&T, it could be allocating that 5MHz chunk for 3G that's causing the capacity problems! Since T-Mobile's 3G is on unused spectrum it is definitely increasing capacity, but are there enough people with UMTS phones to make a difference?
This would be a great plan for my family and I. The downside is that T-Mobile starts lacking in the interior parts of my county and areas where we travel to/from for our ecotours. So maybe someday down the road when their coverage improves and 3G is turned on, then they might be a possibility.
