I am thinking of getting TMobile service for my wife. Anybody experience problems with their service in the Bergen County area? She won't be using it much so I plan on getting the $19.99 a month plan with the Nokia 3390. Any pros or cons would be helpful.
LOL!....I would go to a T-Mobile store and get a trial. I believe they give you 15 days to return the phone if it doesn't work out for you. What part of Bergen Co. are we talking about? Some parts of Bergen are well covered and others not so good so it is hard to predict how your coverage will be. In the Oakland/Mahwah area coverage may be weak/spotty except near Rt 208/287. However, areas such as Fairlawn and Paramus have better residential coverage.
Most of the usage will be around Dumont and Paramus area. Guess it can't hurt to try. Worst case, I return it. Thanks for the advice.
My in-laws live in Fair Lawn, so I've been there often. Good service in an around FL, Elm Pk, Paramus, GSPlaza, 4/17, etc. T-M just put up a new tower (well shared space) on 4, westbound side was you approach EP near the NJTransit bridge
voicestream is also looking to put a new tower right smack dab in the middle of wayne nj as well. if they do i think sprint is jumping on board that one as well. i live 1/2 mile from the proposed site and i already get pretty good service (it works in my basement with occasional dropped calls there only) hehe I hope to watch the site go up and then watch happy sprint and T-mobile customers walkin around.
Bobo I don't know where Jack Daniels is..... The KMart is on the other side of 4. You can see the tower I'm talking about from rt 4 - I think there are now 3 carriers on it, and T-M is the lowest. It's down near 4 and Plaza Rd I think.
Isn't Plaza Rd. near the Garden State mall and Rt 208? AT&T needs a tower there, my phone loses service down in the GS Mall food court although in the first floor it works ok. Jack Daniels is a Audi/Porsche/Volkswagen car dealer you see going westbound after you pass the Rt208 split and you start going through traffic lights on Rt 4/Broadway.
Oh yeah I know that car dealer. duh. Going west, Plaza Rd is past Jack Daniels - there's a Columbia Bank on the left corner IIRC. The tower in question is on the right in that general area - you can see it from the road.
Oh I see...I think that's an old Verizon tower if I am not mistaken. T-Mobile is collocating there, right?
i live in dumont and use t-mobile. have no reception in the house except for at the window's which is where i have to keep my phone if i want it to ring. i've used many different models too. the pebble has the best antenna - i can get a few bars in the house with this one. but you will surely get cut off on county rd. in tenafly and on the 9W. also, around edgewater on river rd. i'm thinking of getting the hotspot but it'll only solve the problem at home, not on the road. and yes, i know you're not supposed to use the phone while driving anyway, but it would at least be nice to know who's calling...
I guess things haven't improved in the 5 years that this thread was started in that area. I would say you would be better off with a different carrier in this area, either Verizon or AT&T so during your travels it's not an issue in that area. Yes a hot spot or a repeater would be the best solution for your home (in the longer run a repeater would be cheaper) and hopefully with all the NIMBY'ers up there something can be done for everyone in these areas to have better reception on all carriers.
