I work in a library so I checked one of our business databases. Thumb Cellular is a privately owned company that has licenses to operate a cellular system in the three counties in the thumb of lower Michigan. Since they are private they are not required to disclose very much. According to my source they have sales between $10M and $20M annually and somewhere between 20 and 49 employees.

I think Cingular has ownership in Thumb Cellular back in the day and sold it.

Probably since they roam on Dobson north of Detriot and Thumb Cellular went CDMA.

I still roam on Thumb Cellular AMPS at my house. They used to operate TDMA also until they shut that down last year. Forcing the 6340i to roam on that was nice. Now I am forced to use AMPS and have sucky battery life. I'm just glad to have a good signal though.
