It definitely will not unlock. Nothing has worked. I'm taking this POS back to Target. I really liked it too, but I'm not even going to mess with another one. I know how to unlock Nokias and nothing worked, so I even ebay'ed a code for it. Nada. I don't think god could unlock this thing. It won't even say "Code Error", it just constantly says "Phone Restriction On" after a failed attempt. Something is hard-coded into this sucker.

I don't remember. I did a lot of reading beforehand so I'm pretty sure it was correct. I used up 3 tries on my own and decided to use ebay for a code. That code didn't work either. I just took the phone back to Target and got my 129.99 back. I do like my ROKR better anyway, but I did want a new toy! Hurry up SE W810.....that looks very nice.

No, I don't think you can assume that at all.

Google 'unlocking 6101' and see how many successful threads there are for it.

I think it's just a T-Mobile prepaid thing, since the 6010 prepaid's at Target had the Internet settings hard locked somehow. You could unlock the voice side but not the data side. Many tried, I've heard of no one succeeding. :(

Someone did find a way on hofo. However, I really beleive my 6101 was hard-locked on the voice side too. I'm not retarded and did research (and have unlocked many other nokias with no problem) and people on ebay were stumped.

Really, I guess I should check out hofo once in a while. I haven't been there in months. I know a couple people who could use that info. ;)

I successfully unlocked my 6101 from Target about a month ago. I was also able to send Cingular's internet and MMS settings to it successfully.

From what I've read around the internet, it's seems to be firmware and manufacture location dependant on which ones will unlock.
    Check this thread: http://www.boomp.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=3859&mforum=unlocknokiaus

My 6101 was made in China 11/20/05. This info can be found on the outside of the box before you purchase it.
    The firmware was 3.39.

    Hope that helps.
