I need to hear form actual sprint users if the service is really that bad. I live in New Rochelle, NY and I hear from many people there are alot of dead zones throughout NY area, as well as NJ. Is this true?
I guarentee you are going to hear from actual sprint users here. I would just find actual people in your area that have it and then go from there. Also you can go to sprintusers dot com and they have many people from differents parts there.
I know someone in New Rochelle who has been with Sprint for years. He is using a Sanyo phone last I knew ans he reports very good coverage and speedy EV-DO. I use Sprint myself and I have never had any problems in the New York Metro area. Sprint is well built out down there and they are constantly adding sites. If you are not satisfied with the service you can cancel for no charge within the first 30 days.
You'll probably hear variations of opinions but I would look at the opinons from a current Sprint user and not one who might have used them 2 or 3 years ago but still thinks they're an expert. But anyway they have added a ton of new cell sites in the past 2 years thanks to the Nextel merger so they are definetly much better now overall than they were in the past.
Like said before though find someone in your area towers are added for every carrier in alot of places all the time.
And then there are those who make comments that add no value to a thread. I was just trying to give the OP some advice. I don't need to visit the area to do that.
I don't need to look at or test drive a car I'm considering either. I'll just go down to the dealer and buy it.
Umm OK. That has nothing to do with the advice I was trying to give the OP. I was simply advising the OP to favor advice from someone who has recent first hand experience in the area instead of someone who doesn't.
As a really, really "general" statement, in the NY/NJ suburbs, Verizon & AT&T are generally considered stronger & wider coverage networks than T-Mobile or Sprint. In/very close to Manhattan, all 4 are strong & "generally" have less of a difference. If you are switching from AT&T or VZW, at best hope for roughly equal signal coverage/strength, which may be possible in your locations & usage areas, but there is a reasonably good possibilty you will notice weaker signals & more dead spots ....
If you have the extra cash you could pick up a cheap virgin mobile phone and test it out wherever you plan to use it.
