    Hi,

I'm leaving Sprint. I have 4 family members on the plan and am considering Verizon with used phones so there will be no contract. I'm considering something like a Razr from ebay or wherever.

    There are several questions.

Basically, we want phone and text service, although I would find an MP3 player occasionally useful. I understand Motorola has more features on their operating system than the one Verizon uses, but it is possible download the Motorola system. Is this true? Any experience with it.

I don't want to spend too much on the phones as I want the freedom to leave Verizon if they are as bad as Sprint.

Would appreciate any advice or thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Tom

I've talked with Verizon and they have said if I have used phones there is no contract.

So, I just spoke with Verizon. Month to month contract has a $35.00 activation fee for each phone. A longer term contract is $35.00 for the first phone and $25.00 each additional.

Frankly, I hated waiting for a 2 year contract to expire with Sprint, so am willing to try Sprint, I just want to make sure about what I'll be getting and if the phones will do what I want.

    Thanks for your reply.

I don't know what plan they are offering you, but I don't show month-to-month plans on my list of VZW service plans. However, I only work with business customers so the issue of used phones and no-contract plans never come up. If the offer is legit and it works for you my advice is to go for it. I still recommend picking out the phones you want first then shopping for them on Ebay. Again, remember that your equipment will not be covered by Verizon, so if you have a problem they can't help you.

I'm watching ebay auctions right now.

    Thanks for the advice.

Consumers do not incur contracts unless they have a subsidized handset(i.e., they buy it at less than retail price from the Company or designated agent).
