Welcome to WA, just be aware that WA is closely monitored by the site admins and moderators since some people try to use the forums as a spam/advertising source. The reason for this is that they flood the forums with senseless posts which are meant to promote their own merchandise and not contribute to WA as a helpful source.

Papitwo was referring to a CDMA phone which isn't used in any countries with GSM since CDMA and GSM are two very different network standards.

Hello. I am new to this but thanks for the welcome. I would like to ask a question. I have a Tracphone cell phone account with a Nokia phone. it works fine most places but does not work too well around Murphy NC where I have a vacation house about 6 mi. from Murphy a bit off in the woods. What equipment do I need to get in order to receive the signal better from whatever cell tower is in the area or to amplify the signal. The phone just says "no network." thanks.

What phone do you have? If you have a CDMA phone, you should theoretically have analog fallback.

    Welcome to WA,

one hint about replying to posts......Try not to click "Reply" more than once. Otherwise, it sends the post to the server twice resulting in 2 or what is known as a "double post". Sometimes a server or site error is to blame too ;).

Welcome :) let's talk about the visual aspects then ;). Do you need a simple cell phone or a cell phone with a large display/special functions for sending SMS/text messages? Will you need wireless internet access (WAP) on the move?

In the meantime, try Phonescoop.com's Phone Finder:

Hi I am new to this site but looked like a good place to go and shop for a new wireless providewr. Not sure if it can be done but currently I live in Minnesota but my cell is will alltell in North Carolina. I have had trouble with my model phone and since it is broke again I have dug up a phone I recieved in the mail last year with t-mobilel But I never activated the phone so the sim card is no good. Do I have to stay with t mobile to use this phone or can I use it with any cel ie..sprint,alltel.verizon? Also I am in contact with NC daily and would rather keep the number there and I need someone who doesn tput me into room everytime I call and doesnt charge an arm and a leg either. Any advice?

    Welcome to WA,

T-Mobile phones won't work with Sprint, Alltel or Verizon since they all use CDMA. T-Mobile uses GSM. They will work with Cingular provided that they're unlocked meaning that through the unlock code (get it from T-Mobile or have it unlocked through a site or a dealer), you can use any GSM provider's SIM card.

    Which phone is it?
