Found this forum by accident looking for a tower picture. Looked at a thread that got me fired up and joined as a result.

I have been in the Business for almost 20years. Started out installing phones back when the transmitters weighed 25lb, they cost $1k for the bottom of the line model and half duplex hands free was a $250 option. I wrenched my back a few times dragging IMTS junk out of plenty of trunks.

I ended up running one of Cingular's repair shops for many years. I also use to work at Cingular's Level 3 Repair Depot at nights. I am a registered Level 2 Repair tech for Motorola, Nokia and OLD Audiovox. I am also registered as a consumer level tech for Ericsson, LG, Siemens.

I have been out of the Consumer end since Cingular closed the shops. So what I am rated on is gear over 2 years old, nothing current.

Did a year in sales and now work network end of things. Basically my Job now is getting all the broken tower gear off to repair and handling inventory on it. My job also covers helping in deployment. Get to wear shorts in the summer (no A/C in the 20k warehouse I work in) and not customer facing any more so it is a great job. :biggrin:

Actualy I joined here about 3 years ago and only found my original user name last week. oh yes, I had a wopping 1 post, LOL. And that my user name was: HappyNY (may be the admins can remove that one).

josephd is also a good friend, although he seems to have nothing but problems with any phone I recommend to him.

Not to rain on your parade, but it only takes one finger to count the number of people Steve doesn't say nice things about -- at least those that I know of Then again, I haven't found anybody who would say something not nice about you, so I'll let this slide

Just wanted to stop in and welcome all the newbies! I don't contribute all that much, I spend most of my time learning from the forums...

WELCOME hme83 & hiddendragon...Well, actually it is kind of late to welcome hiddendragon, we have a few post about Cingular's data plans that we went round and round on already

 

I wonder who recommended the V551 (it was V551, wasn't it, Joe?) that Joe was having trouble with before the 6230

Do I even want to get that chance?

 

:dunno: Wouldn't it be nice if all forums such as this all operate the same way? Whew, the first day is the worst!

I need ALOT of help. I am DEAF and have no cell phone as yet, and hesitate to follow the sheep (all the other deafies), I want to be different and do something offbeat.

The problem is, we have two residences. A farm in southwest Washington State and a beach home in Oregon. I cannot seem to find a provider that will serve BOTH PLACES without a hassle.

I would want a Blackberry or a Sidekick or anything any of you can suggest here to help me out. Price is not the problem.

Is it true that I have to pay more per month if my husband uses the "voice" part of the telephone? I would only use text messaging.

I didn't recommend the V551, did you? I do know that I am NEVER recommending another device to Joe, not even my current love, The Blackjack....

 

No, certainly wasn't me, all I knew about V551 at the time was the battery life sucked I wasn't trying hard enough to talk him out of 6230 though
